I've only done one round, does it mean I don't have babs? I've had sweats, air hunger, drop-dead fatigue, headaches, I don't know what else it could be. My LLMD has a few other things he can try but just wondered if anyone else did not respond to Coartem.

Hubby did 8 rounds of Coartem I think it was. Did not do much of anything. The doc who was prescribing it did not followup with any other babesia meds. Then he moved on to a few other docs and has done a total of 14 months of very aggressive babesia meds.
Air hunger was never one of his symptoms. His sweats have been fairly mild as well.
The symptoms that come back first for hubby off of babesia meds are increased nausea/vomiting/dry heaves and Parkinsonian tremors. Also worse dizziness.
I personally think that coartem is one of the weaker babesia meds.
Other options to try --mepron, malarone, lariam, doxycycline, IV clindamycin with quinine, flagyl, ivermectin, daraprim. Herbs include artemisinin, cryptoplepis and sida acuta. In my opinion babesia takes multiple meds and herbs. Start with one and just keep adding new meds or herbs. Turmeric and EGCG (green tea extract) are other possibilities. Hubby has done all of the above plus a few other things.

wow-thanks for that feedback Bea, your post is very helpful. Coartem is a very expensive drug too. I'm very sensitive to drugs so haven't been able to get to the high doses. But maybe my LLMD can help me. Thanks so much for your help and encouragement. Hope your husband is doing better!

I have a bad case of Babesiosis. I have done multiple rounds or Coartem, and it did not help.
These diseases and medications affect people differently.
