In August of last year, crap labs got the following results for my daughter.

Though it didn't say IgM or IGG she was positive for bands 41, 28 and an odd 53 on which I can find no information.

She was treated for 5 months with Biaxin and Plaquenil.

We just got her Igenex bloodwork, done 3 weeks ago in.

Her IFA was positive at 80

IgM was positive for
31++,
83-93+
and IND for 41

IgG was positive for
41++
58+

As I understand it, IgM is more prevalent in late, chronic infections?

What does this mean for her now, after treatment?

She still has all her symptoms, worst are dizziness, vertigo, nausea, headaches and stabbing pains in her back.

I'm sorry to say that, very often, it takes longer than 5 months for a successful remission to be achieved.

I don't think she needs repeat tests for lyme until she feel better for at least a couple straight months - and then I'd only do the Advanced Labs tests.

Lyme just can't be monitored along they way like other infections and it's really not likely to be "gone" in 5 months. Sad, I know.

If she was treated with just those two Rx (Biaxin and Plaquenil), that is usually less than many ILADS LLMD use.

If her doctor says (after 5 months that) this is is now "after treatment" she needs a better doctor.

To feel better, I hope she's been able to use good LIVER SUPPORT and good ADRENAL SUPPORT.

I certainly understand the disappointment and warranted concern but if her doctor thinks she should be over this by now, she needs a different doctor who will see her through - no matter what - no matter how long it takes.

It could take a couple years and a much more complex & rotating plan of action.

I assume the Plaquenil was to treat Babesia. That, too, can require long treatments with combination & rotation . . . however . . .

CRYPTOLEPIS has been found very helpful for tough cases of babesia.

=======================================

Now, it could also be that there are other infections, deficiencies going on.

If not already done, she may benefit from an genetic test for celiac.

Even if not a genetic celiac, many with lyme do far better with treatment if they are gluten-free. Various infections seem cause all kinds of problems with consumption of gluten.

Heavy Metals and Parasites also often go along with lyme and need to be assessed. You might look over TIMACA's link here:

Diagnosing Lyme Disease (&/or whatever else is going on)

Other tick-borne infections and other chronic stealth infections - as well as certain conditions - that can hold us back are discussed here.

You asked: "IgM is more prevalent in late, chronic infections?"

Yes. Others can speak to the test specifics. That is not my fort but it sure seems to be clearly lyme.

The "Diagnosing" thread above contains a link on how to interpret Western Blots. Even if just ONE band is positive, in the presence of classic lyme symptoms, with a history, etc. it sure seems that you are on the right path.

Most ILADS-educated LL MDs treat for two months past the point where the patient feels good.

Many also incorporate support supplements to help the liver & adrenals better tolerate treatment.

While any doctor who treats for 5 months has for sure moved beyond the negligent IDSA guidelines (and good for him for that), still, I'm not sure of his range of knowledge & experience.

This may be of help:

(What ILADS is) . . . WHY you need an ILADS-educated, Lyme Literate Doctor - starting with assessment / evaluation.

Boy oh boy this sounds VERY similar to the experience I had with my first "lyme doc" although I shoudnt even call her that she was a FAIL

she had me on biaxen and plaquenil for 9 months and she NEVER gave me a cyst buster. Sure I started feeling better. but then she totally took me off meds and told me I was completley fine and didnt even give me a CYST BUSTER or treat my bartonella. I am now seeing a GREAT LLMD and am herxing ALOT on a cyst buster! So much for being done!. The doc stopped treating me right in the middle of my treatment!

You must remember that there are ALOT of doctors who dont want to treat this. At least for not as long and as aggressively as it truely needs to be treated. This is a very sensitive and political issue with docs. Alot of them just want to dodge getting in trouble or their lisences taken away. Sad but true.

Please PM me and tell me which doctor you are seeing. I'm curious if its the same one I had.

Your daughter isnt done treating and dont let any doctor tell you she is!
