Skin hypersensitivity: state of altered reactivity in which the body reacts with an exaggerated or inappropriate immune response to a chemical substance having the properties of an antigen or hapten that is in contact with the skin, the resulting skin condition being allergic contact dermatitis. Source: CRISP
When I had this, I could only wear the softest clothes. Anything that was wool or starched or stiff or had metal threads in it irritated my skin. It made me feel like I was itchy or being pricked or like I was about to break out into hives.
The skin would look a little irritated, but not very noticeable at all. It was very uncomfortable.

Hi Maya12, could you describe what you feel it is? I definitely have this-not only does my skin burn all the time, I also can't tolerate certain fabrics, I have to have the purest, softest cotton next to my skin. Usually anything with spandex makes me want to crawl out of my skin so I avoid that. Also detergent-I use the 'unperfumed' kind, same with the dryer sheets..
I'm sure I've forgotten something but does that sound like you? I think this definitely is a neuro/immune issue.

Hey tf and trubee thanks so much for the responses and how tf described how her skin felt being sensitive to most fabrics making her skin itchey this is exactly how I feel . It is like any fabric other than something very soft irritates my skin like steel whool rubbing on it or like wearing fiberglass and it can get very itchey and irritated and feel like it is burning. Is this how it feels to you truebee? And what causes this , is this from lyme and co?

Yes Maya12, that's exactly how I feel- our nervous systems are 'hypersensitive'-kinda like always in the 'on' mode. Chronic acitvation of the immune system causes this, upregulated cytokines, etc. I know there is info on this if you look up good articles on Lyme.
That's also what causes emotional outbursts, irritability, etc. Overloaded CNS and sympathetic overdrive, changes in brain neurochemistry, etc. Some people try things to increase the parasympathetic response through biofeedback, meditation, massage, prayer, meds, etc. Does this make sense? You're not alone.
