Questions?

Have been on TYGACIL (tigecycline) for over 2 months now. Wondering if the med has a diminishing return, meaning being on it for months on end- has more side effects than benefits.

If you have been on TC-

How long have you been on it- or how long did you use it?

How long is enough?

Any tangible benefits or side effects?

Have you noticed an improvement in your symptoms?

Are you doing liver support...things that help the liver to make glutathione.

Magnesium
Fish oil
Milk thistle, sylmarin
Undenatured whey
CoEnzyme Q10
N-acetyl cysteine
Alpha lipoic acid
Acetyl l-carnitine

The liver makes glutathione to detoxify the neurotoxins left behind by the dead Lyme bacteria.
Those neutoxins are poison to the nerves, and will cause many of the Lyme symptoms.

4 months & did well. It was "my ticket" over the hump.

The side effects (nausea) only last a month for me. The pain of the IV was I had to do Lovenox shots for a genetic clotting disorder.

Would have done more but got a clot out side the PICC line. I felt so much better on Tigecyl I over-did it with the PICC arm.

Good luck

Honestly, Tygacil is one where I had the most benefits right away within the first couple 6-8wks. I stayed on it for many months without much additional benefit. (My LLMD did change other parts of my treatment protocol during that time so there were other reasons why I stayed on it longer than I probably needed.)

Tygacil is too expensive to continue if you have plateaued. If your doctor is suggesting it, go ahead and move on to another antibiotic combination. There are other antibiotic protocols that may help you more now.
