i recently received the 350 mg zhang artemisiae capsules in the mail from my llmd as an addition to my current babesia/lyme treatment (bicillin shots 3x week, malarone, azithromycin). does anyone know the dosage instructions for this? i received no instructions from my llmd. the bottle says to take 1 capsule 3x day. is it similar to byron white where i have to take it on an empty stomach? any feedback would help. prescribed from dr. h's practice in hyde park. anyone take their artemisiae protocol? thank you.

rossphoto,

It helps to avoid solid blocks of type. Many can't read it that way.

Ususally, the EYES do best with posts of no more than about 3.5 lines. That's about 4-5 lines as you compose.

After you see how it looks posted, you can always use the edit function to go back and add white space breaks just by hitting the return bar where you want the break.

The BRAIN also likes some "breathing room" with a new paragraph for each new thought, topic or question.

Here's your post so more can read:

Start with just ONE a day until you get confirmation from your LLMD. I would take the first ones in the middle of a meal. See how that works.

Monday morning, call his office and ask the office manager to check your file notes for instructions (or if not there, ask the doctor).

It's important to get the instructions for YOUR body, from YOUR doctor. Ask about timing, dose and how to take (with or without food)?

When we started Zhang's art we took it slow and herxing was pretty bad. My youngest didn't make it up to full dose for several months. Then we stopped herxing and went to Zhang's 2 and had some herxing. Now we make it 10 days a month with no issues.

One son takes coartem in addition and the other takes malarone.

Both strengths are 3 times a day. I order from Dr. Ron and get free shipping when I purchase 4 bottles. We have 3 in the family taking it.

I take 3 pills/day for 10 days a month.

Hmm...on that Dr. Zhang site it says treatment is 40-80 days not months... How long is one supposed to keep using art I wonder?

I take it at least an hr away from anything else and take it with grapefruit juice. Sometimes I take it with food, sometimes I don't, I haven't noticed a difference...it doesn't hurt my stomach or anything. I am on my 4th pulse right now.

I just priced out hepapro and Dr. Ron's and hepapro was cheaper even with the $9.95 shipping. It helps to order in bulk.

Hepapro is an excellent brand, all the way around.

The quality assurance at each step, the concentrations and the thought that has gone into this line make it - (can only think of "excellent" and I already used that term).

I've tried to find less expensive alternates but it's not that easy. IMO, it's best to go with the best quality possible.

When searching for other sources, easier prices, it's good to keep in mind:

Not all sources are the same. Not at all.

For instance, artemesia is not the same as artimisinin. It all starts the same but does not finish the same. There are some benefits and some drawbacks to each.

Be absolutely certain of the state of the herb (raw vs. concentrated vs. extract).

Any additives? Maltodextrin from corn may be used in some LOOSE BULK POWDER concentrates and is NOT desired for a number of reasons -

- mostly the source of that corn can vary - or even be from other substances like potatoes -- but also the plant source is usually not organic and may be GMO. Do ask first.

Also, many with inner ear problems are advised to avoid corn.

Some are extracts with or without other ingredients.

Not all doctors use this with the same dosing instructions. Some prefer daily basic doses -- some prefer higher doses for pulsing alternated with rest times.

Also keep in mind: artemisia, artemisinin is never to be the sole approach for babesia. Something MUST go with it. It is always to be just PART of the treatment plan. Never alone. (But, most here are aware of that, it's just good to keep in mind).

Not all that long ago, it was thought that babesia could be treated with two or three sessions of 40 - 80 days or so.

Now, it seems that most LLMDs suggest longer treatment times, higher pulsing, etc.

This is because they've found that babesia can become chronic and need much longer treatment - in some cases. Different combinations are also used more now, with rotation.

This is also where the herbal tincture Cyptolepis comes in. It has helped some who did not see success with other babesia treatment.

Again, as PART of an overall protocol (whether Rx, herbal or combination) so as to lessen chance of resistance.

Thanks, Larae.

I added your note to that that Cryptolepis thread so others who read that would have this detail.

I am taking Zhang's also. I am taking one capsule three times daily. Previously I took two capsules three times a day.

I recommed calling the doctor's office to see how they want you to take it.

This brand really helps me. I hope it helps you too!
