I read that most take 1tsp, x's2 a day

Now I'm reading that's not high enough dose.

Is this real or hype//who has gotten well on first dose??/

Thanks...sometimes I think reading about it just stresses me .. I just don't want to fall through the cracks [loco]

My son takes 1 tsp once a day. He's on his second bottle and hasn't shown any signs of improvement

I believe initially the dose was one teaspoon twice daily, and now it is typically two teaspoons twice daily.

You should speak with your doctor about this.

nonna, I had no effect on 1 tsp. Mepron 2xday . Everything I've heard from my llmd, and been to lyme seminars with the best doctors (Dr. H. in NY and Dr. B.) is Mepron must be increased to 2 tsp. 2xday.

I am on 1 tsp. X2/day.

My LLMD (Dr. H.) based that on my weight and severity of symptoms.

I started the first week of Feb. this year, so I have been on it for almost 3 months.

I also take ART and had taken Crypto. along with Zythro of course

Dr. H. dosed it out based on my individual sx.'s and other meds I am taking. I was told if you are under 120 lbs. 1 tsp twice a day would be okay for some people. I am under 120 lbs. and very sensitive to meds.

I herx very bad on it so I know it is working.

Desertwind or Anyone,

The real question is does it work ?

I'm only on 1tsp/day and thats all I can tolerate b/c I am Herxing my behind off.

Body aches, Freezing cold chills, Off the wall Fatigue, Malaise 10 x baseline, Short of breath much much more then Baseline, and of course my Mood is terrible. The Crazy Nausea could be a side effect, but I don't see my other exacerbations as any way it could be a side effect.

So, although it appears I'm hitting it, how many others Herx and then come out better ? Desertwind, your 3 mos. in and Herxing, but has anything gotten better ? Herxing is no good unless the other side is improvement.

I know I will need to go higher, but I can't right now b/c the Herxing is so severe for me right now.

I hope to one day be able to say it was all worth it. Is there another side ?

OK to go higher if doc say's so for me...I'm willing..

Does it cause weight gain for anybody???

I seem to have same issues either way ....

Can it be taken with Rifampin?? Just wondering

I'm at at close to 4 month's. Thought improvement on sweats and pain. Then changed different med and all came back. Stopped other med asap, but symptom's didn't leave

Desertwind and Lymetwister, if you're herxing on 1 tsp. twice a day, then clearly you don't increase. You may never be able to take the full dose of Mepron. I could not tolerate Rifampin at the dose others work up to. It's all dependent on each individual.

If you're herxing to the point of depression, then back down for a day or skip a few doses. It builds up in your body, and you have to be able to tolerate the side effects.

Also, nausea could be a result of not taking Mepron with enough fat. It needs to be 23 grams, which is a lot and If not, nausea is common.

Nonna, What were you taking that made you feel better and then you changed medications? Was it Mepron? If it was, then getting back on it was the right thing to do. I find the less I change things around the better.

Rifampin will reduce the absorption of Mepron. I wouldn't want to compromise Mepron if you are beginning to see results. I took Rifampin while still on Mepron, but it was two years into treatment.
