Over the last couple days I've gained six pounds. Nothing different about diet or anything--but had done a few days of only sporonox then started vancomycin. Trying to figure out if it could be one of the meds and if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks.

I would be cautious and call your doctor. You should have some labs drawn to check your kidney function and probably a vanco trough to make sure that your levels are therapeutic and not toxic. Vanco can cause kidney problems.

Thanks, I did just have labs drawn last night. Could kidney problems or toxic levels cause sudden weight gain? I did see that sporonox can cause it, but I only took it for three days and am off it now.

Yes, that sudden weight gain would be a sign of fluid retention. It could signal kidney stress. That's why I thought you should tell your doctor. Vanco is known to be nephrotoxic.
Maybe the combo of the vanco and the sporanox together contributed to the fluid retention/weight gain.
I didn't mean to scare you, just to make you aware. It's good that you already had your labs done last night. Your doctor should have the results today.

Thank you so much, sammy! I think you're right and that it actually was triggered by the sporonox, because the weight is starting to come back down now. Phew! I have not heard back from the doc but I know they'll call me if there's an issue.
