How much should I be taking to help control the pain in my feet?
I started it yesterday and am taking 2-500 mg twice daily.
Im not noticing anything at the moment.
I could not even walk or put a ace bandage on the right foot this morning.
They hurt so bad Ive been in tears since 4am this morning.
Im wondering how everyone deals with the pain?
What do you take to control this kind of pain?
This morning I got in my wheelchair and before I could even get coffee I took tramadol 50mg, 800mg of Ibeprophen and 2 magnesium.
This is not even taken the edge off.

What type are you using? The type I use is Magnesium Lactate. It is acturally Mag SR (sustained release). They are only 84mg each and I take 2 in the am and 2 in the pm. The mg is low, but they stay in your system due to the SR where as the other types you end up peeing out qicker.
From what I was told you can increase your magnesium until your stools become loose, then back down a little then you have found what your body can handle. My LLNP said it was fine to use as much as I need as your body gets rid of the excess. Also, Mag is safe as long as you DON'T have any kidney problems.
Alot will depend on the type you are using as your body absorbs some kinds better than others. I know Mag lactate is one of the best for this. I also tried the magnesium oil to apply topically but it burned alot and I had no benefits from it.
For pain neurontin has helped me as well as lidoderm pain patches that I apply to my hips. Unfortunately because the pain is in your feet theis would be hard to use them there. I know when I saw my LLNP recently we talked alot about pain and she said the problem is most of the pain lyme produces will not repond to pain meds unfortunately. So usually she has some success with neurontin.
You will not see instnt results with the magnesium, it took a few days for it to kick in. I found taking the oral mag along with epsom salt baths steadily every day helped to take the edge off.
It does sound like the pain in your feet is the same type I had on my hips. Could not even touch them, lay on them, bare weight etc without tears.
Have you tried accupuncture or massage? You do need to be careful with both to be sure it is someone knowledgeable about this type of pain as they can make the problem worse. I wish there was something more I could do as I know what you are going through with this and its just pure hell. Do you have a doc that would prescribe neurontin? You really need a med that will help nerve pain. I'm not sure perhaps the ER would help?

I thank you for your help the magnesium is just magnesium 500 mg from vita cost.
The dr.s here seems to not prescribe me squat.
Its very frustrating to see this kind of stuff. I did try the lidoderm patches and it didn't touch the pain.

The lidoderm patches alone will not do much. There were many days I felt they were not helping at all. It wasn't until I was on abx, along with increased magnesium, and the neurontin that everything worked together. It will say on the bottle the type of magnesium.

Catina, Look at the list of ingredients. Magnesium oxide is not well absorbed, but it's cheap.
Look for magnesium glycinate, citrate, or taurinate.
For pain, try 100 mg of tramadol along with 1000 mg of tylenol. The tramadol should last for six hours, but does take almost an hour before you really feel it. The tylenol potentiates it, and begins to work in 15 minutes.
Also, are you taking a good B multiple. Some of the foot pain may be neurogenic, or from nerves that are not working correctly. B vitamins and extra B12 sublingual can help.

Do not ingest more than 2,500 mg of tylenol per day.

Yes, you need to be careful with the tylenol.
I usually take one tablet at a time, and then more when it wears off. 500 mg of tylenol should be good for three hours.
