What is the likelihood of transmitting Lyme to my husband? Is it even sexually transmitted??

Thanks

You will find conflicting opinions on here. I can only tell you from my own experience. My fiance and I were both healthy in college. That was ten years ago. I was bit by a tick while running a few years back and tested CDC positive a year ago.

She fell sick last year and saw my lyme doc and sure enough she has lyme and babs. Luckily, she didn't test + for all the co's that I did. So yes, we are sure that it was passed through sex. I see a well known doc in in NY who also believes it. He did say there was probably more than semen passed though, probably blood.

Just my story, others may not agree.

My well known LLMD also feels it is transmitted sexually but the chances are not high for sexual transfer. I've been infected for decades and yet my husband does not seem to have it and we've been together for over 25 years. Apparently some people are asymptomatic so it's possible he has it but does not have symptoms. He's never been tested.

Personally I think that if a person or animal who has lyme is bitten by an insect that can transfer it via a bite then other household members or guests may get it if they are bitten by the same insect who bit the infected animal/person. No proof of it but it seems logical to me.

I'm sure it could happen. But I'm like Terry. Been married for 39 yrs (had undiagnosed lyme the whole time) .. hubby seems to be fine.

It's probably easier to get it from man to woman than woman to man.

I'm pretty sure my husband got it from me. He has no symptoms, but we wanted to check and just do a benchmark test on him. Sure enough, he has it. The same bands too. I used to garden. He never goes outside (loves his TV and computer).

The spirochete is corkscrew shaped (can go through anything). I do think that people who actually get bit by a tick have a higher parasite/bacterial load than what we give our spouses though.

I actually think most people have it. I think they just don't know they have it. Once I started researching this disease and evaluating my past health issues, and my family member's pasts, things start adding up.
