Has anyone heard of using a TENS unit for Lyme, Bart, Babesia, etc?
I have a home TENS unit that I got for sciatica before I had spine surgery a few years ago.
I do not have joint or muscle pain, except for some minor chronic neck and shoulder stiffness, but I was wondering if the electricity would have some kind of therapeutic effect on the body.
Thanks in advance!

- You might want to talk to your LLMD about this.

Yeah I have sciatica too, hope you fully got rid of yours. No doubt in my mind that lyme or a coinfection is causing sciatica for me, never had any problems with my back or sciatica in my entire life.
I'm not having an MRI done or if I need surgery till after my Lyme goes into remission. My LLMD concurs.
Hear good things about inversion tables, but I can't do them because it causes more pressure in my head and headaches.

A ruptured disc was causing my sciatica, had to have surgery a couple years ago. After surgery, the pain disappeared.
My Lyme symptoms only started last summer, so I don't think it was related for me.
Thanks for the input, everyone! I've been lending out the TENS to friends and family when they get sports injuries; guess I'll just keep doing that!

Keebler,
Why does Dr B say not to use a TENS unit?

- First, Dr. B did not say not to use a TENS unit. He used a broader term under which a TENS falls. He says to check with one's LLMD first. A TENS may be fine in some instances but not - I think - as the original question of the thread for full body shock attacks.
I'm not sure why he says "no electric stimulation" [without first checking the specifics with one's LLMD]
but I have read elsewhere that spirochetes HATE heat, vibration, noise, shocks and will burrow deeper, even into the bone to try to evade that and find calm surroundings.
This "attack" (with heat, vibration, noise, jostling, etc.) as it registers to them can also cause some spirochetes to go into their protective cyst form - and that extends the time and complexity of treatment all the more.
[Could be why after accidents, some find a "latent" lyme becomes active, the shock, the trauma and spirochetes just hate all that.]
It could also be that the "no electrical stimulation" with PT devices that Dr. B refers has to do with adrenal stress. Our adrenal system is bound to register some kind of "disturbance" it may see it as shock, ramping up a system that is usually already just worn out.
There may different reasons and it may well be that a TENS would be okay but not other kind of electrical simulation.
I have seen others here reply to similar questions that a TENS unit worked okay for a sprained ankle or painful shoulder short term or such and their LLMD said "okay" -- but taking such a unit off purpose and using on the whole body for an umbrella attack of infection, that could be a very different.
I had an electrical stem device on my ear lobe that emitted tiny shocks, with the goal to lower tinnitus. It did the opposite, zoomed tinnitus to the moon and beyond - and triggered seizures for me.
Yet, Robin here has described what seems to be a similar unit helping lower her tinnitus for a few short hours, anyway.
I've had some PT electrical stimulation (like on suction cups and electrodes, wired to a device that would pulse and relax) that has just destroyed me, landed me in bed for months.
I had no clue why it was such a disaster but after reading Dr. B's caution and that other detail (which I has saved where I read that), it makes sense. For me, I think there were many reasons it caused damage.
We sure do not want to do anything that sends spirochetes deeper into the body because they are trying to escape the vibration from the TENS that would go only so far. If we had a shock greater than that such as to have a vibration that is so intense as to rattle our bones, well, could rattle our brain, too - for a start.
And shock also stress nerve fibers that are greatly affected by lyme. Shocking our nerves can be the wrong thing to do, in so many ways.
Instead of shocking . . .
Rife Frequency approach would seem wiser as it's very different. Instead of trying to use a TENS unit against lyme, other microbes as the original question of this thread asks, rife, very different, seems the best option along lines of non-pharmacological approaches. -

Made me feel much worse. Which is odd. I had used one pre-lyme and it worked wonders.

I was using it for pain, not to treat Lyme.

- A.G. could be because of any or all of the body systems mentioned above that might have been "fried" even with mild shocks, &/or
one major aspect I forgot to include above: spewing toxins when they sense some kind of attack / disturbance . . .
because spirochetes so very intensely HATE heat, vibration, shocks, surprises, etc. as they went into panic mode, they also go into their angry mode and spew forth more toxins. Not at all happy about vibration, they fight back on their way to trying to evade via going deeper / going into cyst mode. -

Dr. K. has developed a TENS unit for lyme, specifically, and I think he still recommends using it. It's got all frequencies of lyme.
It was called KMT. I bought one, called KMT 24 long ago, and it did help me with lyme, when I was almost handicapped from it. I was pretty bad, and that device did help me, but of course, it was not a cure for lyme.
I still have it home, but it's been very long I do not use it. It's got very mild currents, working on a 9v battery, it cannot fry the critters.... You do feel the electrical shocks if you are low on electrolytes....
