Magnesium - what type is best: glycinate, aspartate, malate, citrate etc??? .....heard about magnesium l threonate for cognitive issues .....anyone try this?
Calcium and/or product which includes other nutrients such as K2 etc. for building bone density.
Fish oil - is liquid better than softgels? What brands are the least contaminated?

(Carlson's may not be the least contaminated... I have no clue)

Carlsons is tested and assured to be heavy-metal free. I like their Cod Liver Oil for D, but it's not "high dose" because it is NATURAL.
I take Whole Foods brand Magnesium citrate - works in minutes for leg cramps! Chiropracter/MD recommended the citrate form.
The BEST calcium supplement I ever took was ... get this ... Oyster calcium. But good luck finding it these days!

I've always liked Pure Encapsulations brand. If you or one of your family members happen to have a professional license (RN or other medical voacation with license), you can get products at the physician's rate.
Carlson's is good. I switched to Krill oil since it is stronger than fish oil....don't know about contamination.
I use the same Mag Glycinate-KAL brand.
Other good brands I have used in the past: Nutricology, Jarrow, Source Naturals, TwinLab.

Ditto Pure Encapsulations - D3 2000mg. You can get it at www.vitaminshoppe.com
Allergy Research/Nutricology also makes professional grade products.
New Chapter makes tons of food grade supplements that are easily absorbed.

For bone density, I found the microcrystalline hydroxyapatite form of calcium best. I had good results for bone density when I took Progena Osteo Plus (Had to stop because I became allergic to the vanilla flavoring).
Many companies sell MCHA (some abbreviate it MCHC). Pure Encapsulations has MCHA powder. Jarrow has a comprehensive bone building supplement called Bone-Up.
My Mom actually alternates between two different calcium supplements (she reversed her Osteoporosis at age 70).
My DH likes Country Life Cod Liver Oil (gelcaps) for Vitamin D3 and Omega-3. His calcium also contains some Vitamin D3.
I've heard enteric coated fish oil is best, though.
I've used Country Life Chelated Magnesium for years.
