anyone out there with incredibly sensitive teeth/bruxism issues? out of nowhere my teeth have started to get incredibly, incredibly sensitive to the point where i can't touch paper without cringing (feels like the nails on a chalkboard feeling constantly). i can't stand it. i had a dental cleaning only two months ago, and i checked out fine. i'm going back next week to see if anything else is wrong, but i doubt it's a cavity (i almost wish it was) because my upper teeth are killing me.

does anyone know if this coincides with any specific coinfection? any advice on what to do? i bought sensodyne but the stuff is probably just making matters worse.

thanks for the help!

Yes, start with your dentist. However, unless she or he is LL, that's likely to cover only the basics - which you do have to consider.

If you consume any kind of carbonated drinks, food additives, etc. those can affect teeth.

Google: Dental Hypersensitivity

Be sure your LLMD is made aware of this soon. Likely, due to nerve inflammation and irritation that just goes with lyme. Certain Cranial Nerves affect the teeth and lyme can really mess with all those cranial nerves.

Best to avoid all chemicals in toothpastes, IMO.
In the past, Sensodyne did really help me for a time.

Be aware that some "sensitive" toothpastes contain a heavy metal but I forget which it is.

Many toothpastes contain excitatory agents. Most have stuff that is really not so good for us. If lyme were not in the mix, they might be fine but lyme can change everything.

These help my dental issues:

You will need to buy a dropper lid, too.

You also mentioned BRUXISM.

Very common with lyme - and with magnesium deficiency (and that is very common with lyme, too).

So: Magnesium is excellent help for bruxism. And that, in turn, should help the sensitive nerves.

Google: Magnesium, Bruxism

Coconut oil may also soothe the mouth tissue but nothing compares with Sea Buckthorn Oil, in my experience. It has the best "thickness" to last through the night, too.

Google: mucosa, sea buckthorn oil.

GSE drops work very well as my "toothpaste" - while I've tried the Auromere choices linked above, most burn my mouth.

So, a couple drops of GSE, maybe a slight dusting of baking soda on a wet brush, allowed to dissolve first - well, it's very nice for my gums.

NEVER put GSE straight into mouth, though. Only a drop or two on a wet brush. Be sure your mouth has just been rinsed so there's some moisture there, too.

Always rinse. Do not leave GSE on teeth.

Same place that carries the best SBO for the best price:

http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/search/search.php?refine=y&keywords=Grapefruit+Seed+Extract

Mountain Rose Herbs Grapefruit Seed Extract - 2 oz. $16.

. . . This Grapefruit seed extract is combined with glycerin where as most suppliers have their extracts based in propylene glycol. . . .

Keebler - thank you so much for replying and for all of the great info! so the sea buckthorn oil will help the sensitivity? i will definitely give it a shot. i've also got a thing of high quality coconut oil sitting in my cabinet, so until i can acquire the buckthorn oil, i'll give that a go. i'm just so worried this will never go away, and i can't live like this. [Frown] I think you might be on to something with the magnesium as well, so I will be giving all of this a shot. Thanks a million.

Oh, yes! My problems began almost three years ago with that symptom exactly. My teeth were SOOO sensitive. It was awful. Dentist found nothing wrong. Ear started having stabbing pain, nothing found at ENT. Finally diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, had BRAIN surgery to decompress nerves (which were NOT found to be compressed during the very hellish surgery!!). ALL LYME SYMPTOMS!

I get the sensitive upper teeth and TMJ aggravation - I'm quite sure is TBD related, but I wasn't sure which one - I was thinking bart, but maybe its the lyme? All I know is that it has been getting better for me with treatment, although it has flared up at the moment after adding the rifampin back in.
