After traveling a little over 3 hours by car on Wednesday and having traveled a little over 3 hours Monday, I came home with bad calf pain and foot numbness. An epsom salt bath and Advil didn't help, so I started fearing a blood clot.

I went to the ER and they did an ultrasound, which was negative. I was told to return if I felt any shortness of breath. The problem is, I have shortness of breath or air hunger a lot, so I ended up going back this morning, when I was feeling worse.

They gave me an EKG, which was fine I guess (no one said anything to me about it), as well as a D-Dimer blood test, which was negative.

Now, I should be feeling reassured, but I keep thinking what if the tests are wrong? My calf hurts, my thigh hurts, and my foot has been numb on and off. It is only on my left side.

This, combined with just waking up on Monday with a numb, swollen index finger for no apparent reason, has me feeling very scared. I don't want to worry needlessly, but I can't help feeling like the tests could be wrong.

Would you be assured by the tests they did?

Any issues with your back?? Could be sciatica.

I would feel pretty confident with having had an ultrasound.

Have you been tested for Leiden V factor?

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/factor-v-leiden/DS01083

Don't be scared by reading this - it could be something else. You inherit it from your parents - you can get one from mom and one from dad. I got both!!

Ask your GP or whichever doc you are closest to about being tested. Simple blood test.

My son inherited one "copy" of gene. Both my parents had it and I don't remember them having any problems. I have had so many surgeries and I am still kicking.

Just thought I would throw this out. Hope you find your answer and get better.

Maximom, I know it's easy to be scared when we have so many odd things going on. I think you can feel reassured by the tests that they did. It's good you took action... to get it checked out. Now try to rest with the positive test results.

I am having a severe calf cramp myself this afternoon. I've had them on and off throughout the years. Still, when I get it, I think 'maybe this time it's a bloodclot'. Then I just remind myself that it is going to pass, and is likely a potassium/magnesium deficiency. That is what a past doctor from many years ago told me. So I take more of those supps when I feel these symptoms.

Oh, and the numbness, that's very common for us with Lyme and coinfections.

Feel better.

I take high-dose nattokinase 3 or 4 times a day to prevent blood clots. I have one or 2 genes for blood clots.

I don't know if there's any scientific evidence that nattokinase prevents blood clots if taken prophylactically. I used to read a blood clot forum, and they had nattokinase wars: half were for it and half against it.

I take it to eliminate symptoms---- if i try to lower my dose, i get little lower leg symptoms, like a twinge or a slight soreish spot. If i get a lower leg symptom, i immediately take more nattokinase.

It keeps me symptom free.

Nattokinase dissolves a blood clot in a petri dish in 18 hours in a lab.

I do also take Magnesium several times a day; i seem to need a lot.

Thank you so much for all of your answers.

If I had any of the blood clot genes, would that show up in the D-Dimer, if there was currently a clot?

The ER doctor seemed to say there was no chance of clot after negative ultrasound and negative d-dimer.

-No.

Maybe you are low in minerals.

what enzymes? Seems like different ones do different thing's .
Like I had know idea Wobenzyme sp? thinned blood., which can make Abx's go into more places and give you new sensations in legs, arms, fingers etc..

I just woke up to a cramp.
Started in calf ,went to thigh, headed to buttocks. then toward toe,,,nasty one,,,,Shot of Mag and a couple Potassium.

Coconut, flavored, water helps...

Sometimes Alka Gold after incase

My husband had a DVT, and they were able to tell from an ultrasound.

No shortness of breath, no heart arrhythmia, sounds like you are good to go.

It's so easy to let these symptoms get the best of us...

Make sure your minerals aren't depleted, especially magnesium calcium and potassium.

Drink lots of water; you may be dehydrated.

Lumbrokinase, nattokinase and boulouke dissolve blood clots and thin the blood. If you're still worried, take an aspirin. My husband still has fragments of his DVT left in his calf, and they took him off coumadin and he is now on asprin only.

It does not sound like you have a blood clot. The ultrasound would be pretty sure of that.

I have a DVT from a PICC line. I also get the pains in my legs...the ones that feel like sore spots or bugs biting a bit. Always have.

That being said...you really should be on a natural thinner like nattokinase or bolouke. They are now being recommended for treatment by most of the big name LLMD's.
