Dr S says this in his book...
"Except for the tetracycline antibiotic group, the fluoroquinolones are not generally used in combination with other antibiotics"

That would be bad for me. I have definitely heard from many people that combo Levaquin/ Cipro with a host of other drugs.

That family gets along pretty well with everything. I'm currently on cipro (same family), biaxin, minocycline, and would be on mepron if I didn't have side effects with my vision.
The med that *really* doesn't play well with others is rifampin.

tickbitt,
Is that just because Rifampin speeds up phase 1 of liver (p450) and causes other meds to leave system quicker?

I have no idea what the mechanism is. I'm much more a physics kind of guy than a biologist.
I've read that rifampin makes most other antibiotics MORE effective and the others make rifampin less effective. Can't say I really know about that either.
What I do know is that if you look at the drug interaction checker on drugs.com it has issues with just about everything.

I think it's other way around. rifampin makes other meds less effective because the liver clears them quicker and shortens their half life.

My first and very effective combo in Lyme treatment was Cipro +minocycline, I even went into remission for a feew weeks after 6 months on this combo. I think at the time Bartonella was the mane trouble, it went dormant and then Babesia came to the surface. But that is another story.

Do you think Mino can hit Bart (or even Myco)?

I think so, definitely Mino hits at some point Bartonella, based on my experience.
After those 6 months of this combo I did not have Bartonella symptoms for 1.5 years and I did not treat it. So I think this combo is very powerful against Bart, the most powerful from all Bart. treatments that I have tried.
I have my fingers crossed now- Im doing photons against Bart (hopefully this will be able to put it in remission for good!), - the same thing here like before when I did abx- as soon as Lyme was gone- Bart is rising up.

I find Ceftin to be amazing for Lyme (and even seems to suppress some Bart - not sure how)
