I'm interested in trying the salt/c protocol. I am currently on abx... Mepron, Zithromax, and amox for Lyme and barbs. Can i start salt/c while on abx?
Does salt/c take much longer than abx if done alone? Would combining the 2 make treatment more effective?
I am planning on buying the book on lymestrategies, as was mentioned in other posts and then asking my LLMD to help guide me.

- I hope someone can answer your question. You might post it at the lymestrategies yahoo bulletin board, too. You may have seen this set but just to be sure you have it:

I am going back and reading older salt c posts and want to contribute in the hope that it helps someone.
I am on Biaxin, Doxy and other ABX that I have personally added. I can speak clearly on the two, since when I remove them I get clear cut symptoms. Not just any symptoms, ones that will land me in the ER with possible stroke, organ failure, and pottential for seizures.
When I remove Doxy or Biaxin I regress. When I add salt c, I herxed to some degree and I don't herx much. It leveled off quick so I ramped up salt C quick. Went from 6g to 10G and neurological symptoms hit me big time. Twitches, tremors, even new Parkinson's hand movement for a few minutes.
I had backed off for 3 days and back on at 5G. I felt up to it again and did 7G one day and the next day 13G. Like I said I don't herx much, only daily migration of symptoms, so in a way I wanna herx and hit this harder.
I had tried Rifampin a few weeks ago and it definitely caused a reversal of symptoms. Rifampin causes Doxy and Biaxin, and many other ABX, to be less effective. So I know clearly with my experience that Rifampin causes reversal and Salt C does not, only herxes if taken too fast.

lymedin2010, did you mean that rifampin helped your symptoms or that it reversed your symptoms back to where they were and you got worse?
I haven't been able to tolerate salt c and my doc is supposed to add rifampin soon.

Rifampin reversed symptoms.
Before I took Doxy and Biaxin I was on a gradual decline. This combo melted my most debilitating symptoms of head and neck pressures, circulation issues, brain fog and the feeling like I have a blockage in my head and due for a stroke.
Since I still felt invaded, less the symptoms listed above, I changed meds in the hope for a cure. Based on Dr Sapi's work and TF's experience I decided to take Amoxi instead of Doxy. By one and a half month I got a return of all my symptoms that I listed above and in the same order at which they disappeared in.
I would imagine that less Amoxi gets past the BBB and my issues are more dire in my head. I was so bad again that crossing my legs gave me severe head and neck pain in seconds. I could not even sit for long, since the head and neck pressure would build up.
Back on Doxy and within 2-3 days I could feel the bacteria scramming for cover in my head by day 3 and then by the end of the week a silence. Circulation and leg crossing issues gone. Head and neck extreme pressures subsided and I feel like I am back on track and not dying.
After things stabilized I added the salt C and herxed some. More twitching and increased head and neck temporarily for an hour and then all gone. I continued Salt C and ramped rapidly and I stirred things around. I got more twitches, big tremors, and for first time Parkinson's hand tremors for a few min.
Needless to say this scared me, but I felt that whatever is in me is bothered by the salt and is being hit hard. I stopped and tremors subsided. I never had the reversal of symptoms, where my head and neck pressures increased day by day and then led to circulation issues, where I can barely sit for long with extreme head and neck pressures.
I added in Rifampin and again day by day head and neck pressures increase and by day 7-8 feels like encephalopathy is setting in and circulation isssues staring up again. It was similar to my Amoxi experience, but much more rapidly. I would imagine since there was not much crossing BBB due to the interaction.
I truly believe in Dr Sapi's findings that Doxy is a great cyst inducer. If one is loaded, like I am, then removal of Doxy wakes things up and cause BB to unencyst.
