Am I finally hitting a co (believed to have babesia and bartonella) or is there something going wrong with me?
I'm on Omnicef, Zith and Mepron. Have been on that combo for 1 month. Had my "normal" Lyme cycle a week and a half ago where symptom activity heightens.
This week, new symptoms: -Inability to take a full breath (I thought I had air hunger before, but this is something) - relentless ear ringing - having a difficult time focusing eyes on things, almost difficult to truly see. Somewhat of a haze everywhere.
I'm hoping that I'm just herxing from a co-infection that hadn't really been tackled before, but, this is pretty terrible. Having major difficulty functioning at work.
Lemon water all day...I'm off to detox a bit more...awaiting any words of wisdom...

Sounds like babesia. For the breathing, focus on breathing OUT, then count to five before you breath in again. It helps slow your breathing down so you don't hyperventilate.
A month is about right for herx timing for babesia.

Thanks six, that makes me feel better. I think I need to brush up a bit more on babesia. How long does. A typical babesia herx last and does it cycle like Lyme?

Wow, two weeks! I will need to pace myself. I also better head to the sauna, I had been feeling better and really slacked off the detox methods.
Looking forward to shortening the herxes to just a couple of days...

The ear ringing (tinnitus) could be a side effect of the Zithromax.

- bcb is correct. Details below about zith and other "ototoxic" Rx and what can help when a toxic infection must be treated and the treatment can also be stressful to the body.
You say: "having a difficult time focusing eyes on things, almost difficult to truly see."
That could be due to the VESTIBULAR effects of lyme - and of zithromax. NYSTAGMUS (very fast spasms of the eyes) goes with both. It's explained in the vestibular symptom post below.
You say you are "off to detox a bit more." (end quote).
That scares me, though it can mean many different things. Just to be clear: detox is not an event but a process.
We do not "detox" our liver but we support with nutrients & water - and move our body in such a way - that the liver can more easily work and do the detoxing FOR us, at its own speed.
While it's absolutely vital to be very assertive with liver support, be sure to not be too aggressive or push "detox events" too fast. If too much, the liver just can't keep up. And when the liver is stressed, tinnitus can be a result.
Or - you may need a different method, or to rotate. Liver support is about 3/4 of the way down in this thread:

- Stopping zith is discussed in that thread but it may be a while to find that.
You should let your LLMD know about this.
Also: avoid ear phones, in the ear pods and noise. Hearing protection is in the thread.
I know tinnitus can be so intense that it can be devastating. Better to change Rx than go through auditory torture that can drive the strongest of the strong over the edge.
However, if you can manage it, support methods might help settle it down. Just start thinking about options your LLMD may suggest for a different combination.
Also in the thread, adrenal exhaustion and brain effects of lyme/Tx can also cause and contribute to tinnitus. It's usually not just the ear nerves.
I sure hope you find a solution. Personally, I could not continue treatment with zithromax, minocycline or Biaxin. Even allicin caused tinnitus at unbearable levels.
You might want to ask your LLMD about liver function regarding MTHFR / Methylation.
Google: Amy+Yasko, MTHFR for the basics.
And, IMO, lemon water is not the best comprehensive liver support. I hope your plan has many facets. -

I am on Zyth/Mepron + others and have ear symptoms.
Lots of ringing but also a numb sort of feeling deep in my ears - not sure if it is zyth side effect or some herx.

Thanks for all of the info, I'll take some time and read through the links.
For detoxing, I have been doing the following: (while eating all organic, no meat, minimal dairy, minimal sugar, no caffeine diet - still working on cutting gluten/carbs and taking probiotics 2x a day) - sauna - Epsom salt bath w/ hydrogen peroxide - daily lemon water - trying to work in coffee enema, potentially - exercise
I have been trying binders, but I haven't really gotten the hang of Chlorella or charcoal.
As far as the ringing in my ears, if it is caused by the zith would it go away when I stop or is it somehow causing permanent damage? Not that it's pleasant, but it isn't totally intolerable.
