Does anyone feel this enzyme product is effective for biofilms?
If so, what dosage, schedule, and what can one expect in terms of side effects? I have heard of as much as 30 pills a day to 'provoke a response', but I don't know if that is a loading dose or ongoing.
I'd love input from those who've tried it.
Thanks.

Also, if these enzymes actually do break down biofilms, doesn't that mean a huge dump of heavy metals into the body? Should one be taking steps to get rid of these?

It was I who posted that doctors in Europe prescribe up to 30 tablets of Wobenzym to "force a therapeutic response."
From what I read, that was an ongoing dose. I think you should ramp up to the larger dose.
From what I've read, killing off Candida will release a large amount of heavy metals. Also killing off parasites, as they bind metals within their bodies.
I don't know if biofilms hold heavy metals. But taking systemic enzymes can cause a herxheimer reaction, as the white blood cells can find the Lyme bacteria more easily.
As for dosage and schedule, you can google for suggestions from the manufacturers. I worked up to 12 tablets daily.
I took it all in one dose, on an empty stomach. The only time I'm sure of an empty stomach is when I wake up, so I keep the Wobenzym in the bedroom with a bottle of water.
Then I wait at least half an hour before eating. I often drink a glass of iced tea and read on the computer. I hate being hungry as I have hypoglycemia.
The coated tablets pass from the stomach into the small intestine, and that's where the protective coating will dissolve. About 25% of the enzymes are absorbed.
The effects that were most noticeable for me were a decrease in body and joint pain, and a significant decrease in headaches and migraines.
Also, I seemed to bleed more when injured, but I'm pretty sure that I have hypercoagulation, so that was a normalizing effect.
Heh, you get used to not bleeding much. Read about hypercoagulation.

Has anyone had the Hemex lab. ISAAC test that Carol mentions? If so, can you remember how much it cost?

I'm on wonbenzyme but I only take 4 pills twice a day. I take them with serrapeptase and nattokinase. I can definitely tell when one of the three is not taken. Like if I run out of one brand.

I hesitated to chime in here as I don't have the answers to your questions.
My Wobenzym dose may be of interest though. I started November 20, 2012 with of 4 to 6 a day. I was desperate for relief of full body inflammation (muscles, joints etc).
within a week or ten days I went to 30 tabs per day divided in three doses on an empty stomach. I continue this today. The empty stomach definitely keeps one from snacking.
I think this has helped me on many levels. The more I read about inflammation, the more I see how it underlies many conditions, diseases etc.
I have not experienced any side effects. I have heard a few reports of stomach issues using even small doses but I think it is the exception rather than the rule.
I am NOT a health care professional.....just another person who has had Lyme/co since I was 15....rather not say how long that makes it.
