Tomorrow, I am starting mepron. Do I just take it in the middle of my meal? Full strength and swallow? Or do you mix it with things to disguise the taste?

I take it with natural peanut butter..they say to take it with something that has fat in it. It's not so bad tasting....cryptolepis is worse..lol

I started out with half a dose just to test the waters, idk if that's the right thing to do or not. I just use one of those measuring spoons and go for it. Good luck.

Just make sure you eat something fatty when you take it or it will not be absorbed properly.

You may want to take half the dose for a few days and then the full dose depending on what your doctor recommends.

Good luck!

I took mine with a meal, just straight. You get used to the taste. Be sure you have a source of fat in the meal.

Don't take vitamin E or alpha lipoic acid either while on mepron.

Eat cheese or nuts or some other fatty food when taking the Mepron so it is fully absorbed.

My LLMD has me taking Alpha Lipoic acid with Mepron. No problems at all and she said to take it for helping with detox. Not sure why you say not to take it with this supplement with Mepron.

My Lyme practitioner also says the CoQ10 advice is old and now says you can take that with Mepron. I don't do that, but if I did not take alpha lipoic acid twice a day, my liver enzymes go up.

According to her, much of what has been said with regards to Mepron in this article is now updated with new information. That is what she told me.

Vit E & ALC are in several combo factors.

Do you mean straight, by themselves/stronger?

I take xymogen timed release alpha lipoic acid and take it 3 hours away from abx. I don't take vitamin E, has nothing to do with abx. I just don't take it.

The taste isn't as horrible as it looks, so I took it straight and washed it down with a lot of water.

Also, FYI, Mepron can cause depression-like symptoms. In my case, I had been on Mepron for 3-4 months with no problems, and then I suddenly noticed my mood was low and I couldn't snap out of it.

Thanks to this site, I knew depression was a side effect of Mepron, so I called my doctor. He had me stop the Mepron and I felt better two days later. It may not happen to you but it's just something to be aware of. Good luck!

Wow, that is amazing that mepron can do that. If something like that happens, I will try to remember that it could be the mepron.

So far I have not had any reaction to mepron or the omnicef I just started. Awaiting a big herx after I start zithromycin. I feel so much better compared to when I started rifampin and doxy. I hope I am not in for it!

I just started Mepron as well. My main problems are headaches all around back of head and temples, spine pain...

For those of you who have been treated with Mepron, do you start to see benefits? days, weeks or months?
