I'm starting valtrex 500mg 3x day. Is there anything special with timing of food or away from antibiotics? Probiotics? Any supps get in the way?

Thanks in advance

I'm on valtrex 500 mg twice a day. I have been on antibiotics, but not with valtrex. My doctor used acyclovir when I took antibiotics. I trust your doctor is watching your labs (eg liver) to make sure you are tolerating everything ok.

Best, Timaca

I take my full daily dose of valtrex with breakfast - same time as ABX. Not sure what you are taking for, but I also take lysine 1000 mg 2 x day as a supplement. I have that first thing upon awakening and again in the late afternoon with other nutritional supplements.

Lysine and valtrex work really well together to combat herpes, which my LLMD thought caused my hearing loss and related symptoms. When I stop taking these two things, the following symptoms worsen - tinnitus, ear fullness, sound sensitivity and hearing loss.

I took it for 2 yrs for EBV ( highest dose ) and it got me out of the bed before a lyme DX . You can google CFS and Dr Martin Lerner for interesting info. I felt worse for 3 months , then definitely better . You may feel nothing at all . Some people do feel worse for a while as the Viruses die . It did help me !
