i've been thinking about this lyme rash. i called my friend who i had been camping with when i got the rash.
she had ringworm!!! and i came home and viola!! i got that rash on my leg. well i looked up ringworm rashes and they look exactly like what i had.
now of course all the other symptoms yeah, lyme, but it's interesting.
ringworm is a fungi i believe. so how to people with lyme react to fungi like ringworm? are we more susceptible or what? can we treat ringworm? can it go systemic and create symptoms like lyme or what?

Was it a scaly rash? Raised at all?
I've wondered about this myself, since after I got sick in 1992, I had a round red rash on my leg which was solid, not ring shaped.
I knew it wasn't typical lyme rash, but went to dermatologist who said it was ringworm.
I've seen pictures of atypical lyme rashes that look like mine did.
It is strange that you both had the same kind of rash. Is it possible she got lyme too?

UH... I would be most concerned that YOUR FRIEND was the one who was misdiagnosed!!!!!!!!!!
MANY, MANY people have come here saying their Dr told them the EM was ringworm.

When I first got sick with lyme I had a rash on my calf that I thought was a lyme rash. I went to the doctor and was told it was ring worm!
I was already starting to have symptoms of lyme and the doctor would not even test me, even with this rash on my leg.
I wanted to slap her! That was not ring worm it was definitely an em rash from lyme on me.

ringworm can look just like em rash. Dont forget that a Lyme rash really can look like anything. Some people seem to be "immune"to ringworm. I cant tell you how many times I have been exposed working with animals and I never got it once. I agree your friend was probablly misdiagnosed

Pus, blisters sounds like a staph infection, and I'd get that treated. And, it can be contagious, should keep it covered.
MRSA is unfortunately, becoming more common.
