I have to stop Mepron again. This time I made it 7 weeks. I have heard that it is best to continue treatment for Babesia for the entire life cycle of the red blood cell (120 days).
So with this break in treatment am I back to 0 since theoretically, babesia could infect one of the new red blood cells during the break?
Also does doxy 100mg BID and zithromax 250mg BID do anything for Lyme or Babesia or are those doses too low?

They sound like doses for a child. What you weight can be a factor but.. Do you have yeast issues?
Also there are other ways to get rid of babs. Can I ask why you are stopping the mepron?

- Don't know what BID means, keep forgetting.
You're stopping mepron, but your doctor should then place you on a different method. Artemsinin is very helpful.
A different way to go that is usually easier and often better for some:

No, you are not back at 0. But it's unrealistic to think you can get rid of Babs in 120 days. Sorry. You need to treat beyond the point of symptom-free. That will be different for everyone.
1-2 years is more realistic. Even after that, you can relapse.
The Doxy dose is low, but OK if you are also on Mepron/Zith. Without the Mepron, it's a low dose.
Zith is fine at 250 mg BID.
This combo is probably bacteriostatic at best, but that's OK if your body needs a break from herxing.
Don't worry. You've had some die-off. You'll get back on track.

Bacteriostatic vs. Bacteriocidal (or similar thought to viruses, parasites, other infections besides bacteria).
Is the medicine strong enough to get you past the finish line or just keeping you managing better? A question we all have to keep in mind through the entire process.
Thanks to BigStan who posted this in another thread:
Bacteriostatic vs. Bacteriocidal levels of certain antibiotics. Each different Rx would have to be considered regarding this issue, too. This paragraph is just about the Tetracyclines.

I'm only stopping Mepron for one week and then probably going back on again. I'm off because of increased bilirubin/jaundice. My other liver enzymes ALT/AST are fine. They are actually lower than ever.
I can't tell if I'm symptom free from babesia. I don't have the night sweats, but I have a lot of other symptoms that tend to overlap between Lyme/Bartonella/Babesia. I guess my main babesia symptoms are extreme exhaustion, chills, recent air hunger and unresponsive Lyme. I've also lost a lot of weight and have pretty much no appetite most of the time. When it comes back I'm starving and can't eat enough.

I have been on Mepron for about 4 months now.
I have taken small breaks here and there. Typically at the 4-5 week mark and only for a few days. Did that maybe 3 times.
My body gets toxic feeling and I need to give it a small break. I think Babs is getting better but have had more Bart like symptoms come up.
