My daughter has presumed Strep (awaiting results). I am developing symptoms too although I am on PrevPac for H. Pylori which includes Amoxicillin and Biaxin. Is it possible for me to catch Strep while on these abx? Doesn't seem likely but I am symptomatic.

Sorry don't know the answer. But I do have a quick question - how did you test for H. Pylori?
Oh, ask your pharmacist about the strep.

seems strange you ask.
but i get sicker when on abx and then i catch everything and then they have to give me different abx.
like when i got diverticulitis and cdiff while on abx. go to hospital and they give me something different.
i get sore throat, thrush, ibs, you name it. abx just seem to tear me up.

My grand kids have had strep several times when I've been on antibiotics and I have never gotten it.

there are some strains that are "resistant" to zith on the east coast.
and from personal experience have had treatment failures on amoxi alone. But the Biaxin should make sure that doesnt happen.
I have 2 kiddos with PANDAS and a dog with strep issues.

I'm starting to panic a little. Still haven't heard about results and I'm positive she has strep. There have been several other cases in her class.
She has had high fever, sore throat, headache, vomiting but no cold symptoms. Bright red spots on back of throat and roof of mouth. I'm wondering what the chances are of false negative on culture.
Am already stressed about having to fight for abx. Sound familiar? She is now developing something around her mouth that looks like impetigo to me. And of course untreated strep can cause rheumatic fever. As always, husband thinks I'm nuts.
