I have been using bicillin IM for 4= months with good results.
What happened this last thursday was I took the shot like usual and since then i have been in extreme pain at the site and the swelling is like sitting on a grapefruit.
It is also warm to the touch.
I will contact my doc tomorrow but wondering if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime.

Hot compresses.
LED light therapy (SOTA LightWorks) will reduce the swelling and speed up the healing.
SOTA Magnetic Pulser, or pulsed magnetic therapy, would likely work also.

I had something like that happen when I was on Bicillin as well although I don't think it got as big as a grapefruit, but it still didn't feel so great.
I agree with Carol. I would definitely try the hot compresses. I know that I would sit on a heating pad after getting the shot which seemed to help after each one.
Let us know how it goes when you call the doctor but for now....try the heat. Good luck.

scar tissue is building up. try this protocol:
For the current scarred area, in addition to hot comppresses, go and get a very deep tissue massage - "cupping" is ideal, but deep tissue will help also. It will hurt so bad, but the scar tissue needs to be broken up.
Going forward, when you get your IM, make them inject over a 2 minute period. Then spend about 5 minutes massaging the area. Then, use a hot compress for another 5 minutes. This seemed to really prevent the scar tissue from developing for me!
good luck!

Well it has been a week of extreme pain but I am now doing way better the knot in my buttocks is down to the size of a large grape and does not hurt any longer.
Since the "bad shot" I have been using the other cheek for the last two injections.
I think I will try the effected side after my next injection,I do two shots a week. I will administer very slowly from now on and massage after each time. Thanks for the tips lyme family.

norcal do you do the shots yourself? My LLNP told me I could not inject in the butt myself. I would have to use the upper thigh unless someone was injecting it for me.
