Has anyone else gotten a rash from these two drugs? It's on my ears, neck and arms. Does it mean I might need to stop the drugs for awhile?

I would check with your doctor. I think Mepron causes a rash pretty commonly, but you wouldn't want to risk letting an allergic rash progress to anaphylaxis.
When I was on amoxicillin, I had a really bad rash that started to intensely itch. I let it go for a few days and it got worse and then led to pretty significant lung/breathing pain a few days later. I would definitely call before the weekend.

Uh - yes! rashes are never good when they are what you describe. Sounds like an allergic reaction..hive-like? could be either drug, I know I am allergic to Bactrim (Sulfa drug) which is a pretty common allergy. I say 'stop', call your doctor asap and take a benadryl. Good luck!

I added Bactrim in to my Mepron, Zith, IV Rocephin cocktail in mid-April. in may thru june I've had an explosion or what i call spontaneous bruise marks mostly on my thighs and arms.
I know its not like a rash, but most likely caused by red cell die-off.... but who's winning the battle ?
Bactrim has reduced my appetite, increased naussia, and messed with GI issues. But most of my other symptoms are improving.

I was almost through with the bactrim so I just stopped taking it. I am taking mepron but don't want to stop that. However the rash has not gone away (it's only been a day).
Does anyone know what I could use to get rid of or ameliorate the rash?

Take benadryl (the max allowed each day) and drink plenty of water to flush out your body.
It will likely take a few days (3-4 or more) before the med is mostly out of your system. Then, I would expect the rash to begin going away.
The half life of Bactrim is about 12 hours, so half of it is gone in 12 hours and another half of that (or 3/4 of it) in another 12 hours, etc.
If you have been on it a number of weeks, it will take the 3-4 days to really get rid of the Bactrim.
The benadryl will hopefully help with itching and other uncomfortable feelings.

I've was taking mepron for about a month and bactrim for about three weeks. My friend tells me that since the rash is on my hands, arms, neck and ears and that I've been taking the drugs for some time that this is probably an allergic reaction rather than a drug reaction. When I went to the drug store to get something for it, the pharmacist also said it was an allergic reaction.

As I was concerned about whether I needed to stop mepron due to the rash, I went to see the doctor. The rash was not weepy so there was not a concern about infection. They think it was a contact rash due to lack of weepiness and that it was on my arms, neck and ears and not my whole body; also because I have taken mepron and rifampin for long periods of time with no reaction.
Recommended treatment is zyrtec, or a generic of it, according to instructions on the package and pepsid twice a day for the next three days and also benadryl at bedtime as needed. Benadryl causes drowsiness.
