Felt like crap this morning, didn't sleep well last night, hot and cold all night. I'm hoping that this is that "herxing" thing I'm reading about because that means it's working, right? I started feeling better after a couple hours. I've read different places that antihistamines help with this. Has anyone here done the vitamin C/salt thing? If so: How long before you felt some relief? Does this herx thing happen a lot? Does IV vitamin C give quicker results? Should I be taking anything else to help with the herx? I'm taking 12,000 mg of C and 12 grams of salt (spread into 4 doses) by mouth.

- Sorry you feel awful, but that is WAY TOO MUCH SALT right out of the gate. You also don't specify if that is SEA salt, just to be sure.
Edited to direct you to Gael's post below.
You'll feel better with some changes - and more water. -

tsp Ester vitamin C powder with bioflavinoids in a tall glass of water.
I ramped up slowly 1/4 tsp a time according to how I was herxing. For more guidance visit lymestrategies and the salt/c group doing this and other protocols as well.
Some are also using abx and have an LLMD.

WAY TOO HIGH A DOSE TO START WITH!!
Keebler,
I think those are the instructions on lymephotos. You will be fine bc, just drink more water today and no salt/c. SEA SALT ONLY NEVER TABLE SALT!
When you start back up, start with 1/4tsp salt and 1/4tsp C in a glass of water, and ramp up 1/4tsp each at a time according to how you are herxing. Visit lymestrategies for guidlines on salt/c.

- Thanks for clarifying that source, Gael.
bcap,
While medical supervision is always best, someone posed this question recently: --------

The 1/4 tsp seasalt in a glass of water is what I'm doing at each dose. Also 3000 mg of vitamin C. 4x per day. And yes, I got this from Lymephotos.

- Well, that's less than what was your first post said:
"12 grams of salt (spread into 4 doses)" [end quote]
That would be 3 grams per dose, then. With 12 grams a day, still way too much for the day, just starting out.
Some have to start with just 1/4 tsp. a day - and sip slowly throughout the day. If that is too much, drop it by half or more.
Really, it may seem overly cautious but we have to start with teeny tiny amounts and work up from there. -------
Just got out my gram spoon and measuring spoons. Approximately:
1/4 tsp. = 2 grams -

So you suggest that I cut down the salt and gradually up the dosage up to 12-15 grams per day but stay the course on the vitamin C, correct? Also, any suggestions on the other questions would be helpful. I've been bombarded with links and am suffering information overload and frustration with all the "you must create a profile" stuff required to view a message board.

- Sorry, I just know about starting very slowly. I'm not well versed enough to go beyond that.
You will get different suggestions on ANY bulletin board, though. It does take time to study this before jumping in. Give yourself time to do that and just go very slowly for now.
I hope Gael will be back to answer your questions.
I can't answer them because I can't read them with the single spacing. I was able to pull out the dose you took as that was at the end.
What I do know is that, today, it's best to not do this, just drink plenty of water.
Gael posted above for you:
"just drink more water today and no salt/c." (end quote)
Hope you feel better. I know it's a rough ride, but it can get smoother. Go for smooth. -

Oh, sorry. I didn't know I needed to double space.
It's too late anyway, I've already had two doses today.
I guess I'll slow down on the salt a little.
I'm this far in so I don't want to quit because I know this is a long grueling process.

- Double spacing is not necessary but shorter paragraphs with space breaks helps most of those with jumpy vision be able to sort out the words.
Today, then, be sure to drink LOTS of water, gradually over time, though.
Yes, indeed, this can be a long process. However, starting any part of any plan can boomerang if we jump in without all the details in place. Glad to hear you will slow it way down, though.
Take care. -

I did salt c and had a horrible herx. I would advise that you start at one gram a day or 1/4 tsp like Gael said.
I was feeling good on it and ramped up really quick to six grams and days later had the worst herx of my life.
If you start too high of a dose you may get discouraged by the bad herxing like I did.
Please go slowly and listen to your body. I have heard good things about salt c from some people. I hope you have great success with it.

some people have not needed to get up to doses of 12 or 15 grams. They had good results without going that high.
Once again go slowly and listen to your body.
