Has anyone else experienced high blood pressure from Lyme? The dr said well it runs in your family. Whatever! I'm only 32 years old! Yes it runs in my family but not at 32 years of age! I'm not overweight either. Infact I've lost a lot of weight because I'm so sick!

It was one of my first symptoms. I am not overweight and had never, ever had it before - no matter how stressed out I was.

BP meds made my pressure spike twice to unreal numbers. I quit those and kept track of my BP at home. It would be high, very low, all over the place.

I went to a cardiologist who said I didn't have high BP, just high pulse rate - that day at his office.

You can read about it online. Dr. B has info that says that unexplained high BP is definitely a sign of Lyme. A woman psychiatrist had it herself and has written about it.

Bellajo, Can you provide a link to the Dr.'s info about Lyme causing hypertension?(Either Dr. B , or the woman psychiatrist)..
Thanks,
Joe

Check the EMR exposure of your home and surrounding areas. It is a common problem with irregular blood pressure and various other symptoms that feel like Lyme, but aren't.

I hope you have no exposure to EMF which seems to become a major problem for many.

All the best to you.

I never had high blood pressure until lyme. While not high enough yet to require medication, my numbers are elevated from where they were, pre lyme.

I didn't have high BP prior to lyme. Have you been tested for the Fry protozoa? It is a biofilm-forming protozoa that adheres to the epithelial walls.

It runs in my family too. I'm hoping it will go away, although I've been treating 2 1/2 years.

High BP was also one of my first symptoms. I'm also thin, was an avid runner, and did not have it prior to dx.

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure last year at age 34. Otherwise healthy, aside from my debilitating Lyme symptoms.

When I started taking Rifampin, it blew the BP high, and it never came down.

High BP was also worse when I herxed, but now I'm on low dose BP meds and it is stabilized.

Wow! I thought I was the only one.

Yes my bp goes up when I am feeling the worst. It isn't as bad when I'm better.

Encouragement is a great thing!

Belllajo, since you no longer take bp medicine what do you do for bp?

Anyone else take meds? Natural?

I also have fast pulse rate.

My husband had high bp as one of his first symptoms. It was worse when he felt bad and improved as he felt better.

He was on bp meds off and on over the years. Lyme symptoms started in 2000 - diagnosed in 2011. Currently he has been off bp meds for a couple years. Treating Lyme & co's for almost 1 year.

He takes a lot of supplements, though not necessarily for bp.

Just diagnosed for high BP. Started with a low does of BP meds and got very tired. So stopped taking them and took lots of fish oil, magnesium powder, ginko and witch hazel. Thinking these would help thin the blood. I am not overweight, and have lost 5 lbs since I was diagnosed two weeks ago with high BP.

Well my BP went down last week but today it is back up and I almost went to the ER cause it would not come down. Called the insurance line and talked with the nurse and she said only go it you have more symptoms, but do see your doc in the morning.

I have bee racking my brain for the cause. Well I started Rifampin 3 months ago to go after Bart.

So tomorrow I am going to see my DO for a EDTA chelation and start regular EDTA therapy. This will help chase out the heavy metals remaining. I have done 18 DMPS infusions to get rid of the mercury.

Thanks for the Rifampin tip. I will tell my doc tomorrow about the Rifampin and go read Dr B. again.

All the Best, MattH

Yes, elevated BP was one of my first symptoms. I'm not overweight, an avid runner, my health history was always low BP and low pulse rate (my pulse rate has remained low, only elevated BP). High BP does not run in my family.

It has never been so high that I have been Rx'd meds, yet. In general, it's elevated, but it's also just unstable, all over the map.....TS

Matt, In my case, I suspect the elevated BP is due to the HPA axis being thrown off. What sets off the tachycardia? I think surges of hormones, and I also think this is the case with BP.

Just my opinion.

So a couple of days have gone by and the BP is under the hypertensive threshold. It is not where it needs to be but top number is down by approximately 20 points and the bottom one by 8 or 10.

My pulse is back to normal (62 beats/min)!

What did I do? I continued my no salt and very low carbs diet. Almost no sugar, I had a couple of crackers tonight (1st exception) and lots of water, various teas, apple cider vinegar, and since I am off ABX, I added back 7 drops of MMS. Man is that hard to choke down. I also juiced several of the evening meals.

So it appears the ABX is the issue. Since I am on Biaxin and Rifampin for Bart, I am thinking that after I get my numbers down (I am thinking maybe two weeks) and go to the doc to verify them, I will only add back the mino, azith, and pulse with flagyl. My BP seemed okay with those.

I am thinking of going after Bart with HH from Zhang (I am currently using houttuynia from 1st Chinese) and then may add Samento.

Any other ideas?

I am also doing EDTA chelation (as a hedge) to get rid of any lead and other than mercury metals. I did 18 DMPS infusions for mercury and want to clean up with EDTA.

I am also doing UV Blood treatments when I can get them, maybe once every 6 weeks. They are good because the oxygenated blood then can kill the ketes.

Koo as far as hormones, I am taking Armour Thyroid and Testim (testosterone) but I have not gotten tested for a while so there may be more to do there.

My diet was not bad but this has really given me incentive to further improve it. I also do a dry sauna about 5 times a week.

All the Best, MattH

I hadn't had my bp taken for a while, but recently had a posterior vitreous detachment and the doctor who examined me took a reading. It was much higher than ever before and was still high this week at my own doctor's (159+ over between 95 and 105.

I have been feeling lousy too: haven't set foot out of the house or been up to friends visiting since New Year.

I have been reading about ubiquinol for high blood pressure and wondered if anyone has tried it for that purpose? I have taken co q10 and ubiquinol before, but not at the moment and not for hypertension.

Are you on medication for it, Randibear? I am on a low dose of Bisoprolol, a beta blocker, for heart rhythm problems and it is also a medication for high bp, so my readings would probably be more without it.

Have you tried ubiquinol for yours?

It doesn’t run in my family at all; no one....

When I met Mr. Lyme - long time ago - I developed (HBP) & (High cholesterol) - still have both to this day, but a little better.

Lyme = both in a lot of us...

Someone suggested Cardio VH from Emprical Labs for my hubby. He's been using it since last winter when his bp sky rocketed.

Its down in the normal / low normal ranges lately.

I always ran low until Lymed. 80/50 range.

Two years ago it hovered around 160/130 and remained. My PCP put me on Lisinopril which brought it down to 120/80 range.

Last year I started seeing a bio-identical replacement hormone doctor and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue.

After being on Armour Thyroid for six to eight months, my cholesterol levels came down.

My blood pressure came down with HC Hydrocortisone for the adrenals. I was able to only take a half of a blood pressure pill twice per week.

The BHRT doc explained to me that my bp probably had spiked due to adrenal crisis and believes I'll be able to at some point stop the Lisinopril. LLMD agrees.

I was on Ubiquinol but it didn't help the bp.

Thanks, Pocono Lyme. I am glad you have found a way to help both blood pressure and adrenals.

In UK, it is hard to find reliable places that will evaluate adrenal and other hormone needs. I managed to get some low dose hydrocortisone out of my doctor for a while a few years back, but he soon dispatched me to an endocrinologist whose sole concern seemed to be to prise me off the hydrocortisone. She didn't even suggest any sort of testing.
