After not taking her probiotics as instructed she now has C-diff. Just put on vancomycin and Florastor. Has to take vanco 4 X per day. Anybody have experience how to fit in the probiotics, which ones they used and any other treatment protocol. Her doctor told her she can't be on antibiotics for a long time. She is discouraged.

Verapamil + berberine?

Could have a pretty significant "herx", IMO.

I had very severe C Diff. I was also on vanco but I took BioK plus with it. I took the probiotic first thing in the morning and then 2 hrs later began the Vanco regimen for the day.

I am so sorry your daughter is going through this. C Diff was prob the worst experience of my life. I will keep her in my thoughts. I wish her a very speedy recovery. Jess

Not in my case. Bio K was enormously beneficial to me.

I should think you SHOULD take probiotics while treating C Diff. You want to try to balance the intestinal flora as fast as you can!

Here is what Dr. H recommends for all of his patients on IV abx.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saccharomyces_boulardii

I know others here have used Boulardi probiotic but I'm not sure where they get it.

Good luck to your daughter! (Tough way to learn a lesson.)

Florastor is a beneficial yeast. Antibiotics don't kill it so you can take it with the antibiotics. Other probiotics need to be taken 2 hours after any antibiotic. Whenever I'm on antibiotics I take Florastor and 3 different other probiotics daily.

I had C. diff for 11 long months. It wasn't fun. I did eventually clear it and have been on antibiotics a couple of times since without it coming back. I am always afraid to start antibiotics however as I never want to see C. diff again...

Good luck to your daughter.

Best, Timaca

My daughter takes Florastor for kids, Culturelle, Integrative Therapeutics Probiotic Pearls, and Klaire Labs Ther-Biotic Detox Support daily. Sometimes we add Custom Probiotics 11 strain. She had c-diff in the past.
