Okay all you moms out there. My daughter was bit by a tick last summer. We watched no bullseye rash and no symptoms.

This March she had a terrible bike accident which landed her in the hospital for surgery on her arm.

In the hospital she began having head and neck pain. Everyone thought it was due to how she was having to sleep etc.

I took her to our chiropractor and she was adjusted but the headaches and neck pain have continued. Almost non-stop.

I saw my LLMD last week and thought the doctor would sign for a lab test but was told we had to wait until my daughter was officially a patient.

The doctor gave me an Igenix kit and I am hoping my chiropractor will sign for the lab test when he sees her next week.

Right now I have her on the condensed Cowden protocol until we get test results.

My questions are what can I do to help ease her head and neck pain and does her symptoms sound like lyme or maybe whiplash from the accident?

Hmmmm. I had pretty bad whiplash when someone rear-ended me. Never really got headaches, just muscle pain through the shoulders and neck, which resolved in about 6 visits with the chiropracter. Although, with an accident, anything could happen (as my chiro told me). Did anyone ever take xrays of her head or neck?

I think I would want to get her tested for Lyme too. Has she had any panic attacks, anxiety, or brain fog?

I would definitely get an X-ray and/or an MRI.

I had a whiplash injury 4 years ago. There was no objective sign of damage, including MRI's, though I do have osteoarthritis. (Don't consent to CT scans that will not be useful but contain large amounts of radiation).

I had all kinds of strange symptoms, including dizziness, fogginess and chills, along with pain. These symptoms lasted awhile, then occurred mainly with certain motions or positions of my neck/head, or when jostled. Gradually, it has improved so that I only have the symptoms occasionally.

Mainstream docs are not good with this, and there is a background of distrust because people are presumed to use whiplash to get money after accidents.

Chiropractors are really good with this, and you already have one. I believe that the blood flow to the brain stem can be affected by things going on in the neck, including whiplash. Whiplash can also result in basilar migraines.

It should get better. Massage, anti- inflammatories, baclofen or other muscle relaxer, Ben Gay, and chiropractic adjustments can all help.

I had a whiplash injury that unleashed my Lyme. I too had headaches and neck pain that went unrelieved by chiropractors, pain docs, orthopedists and PT's. I did not know I had Lyme at the time and spent the next couple of years chasing the pain. Since there is the history of a bite, I would pursue both at once. LLMD plus r/o other with an orthopedist. Better yet would be a very good manual osteopath.

Best of luck.

Healing thoughts to you,

Thanks for all your suggestions. I am hoping that it is just whiplash. (Can you believe it?)

I will be pursuing both avenues. It is so hard to watch your children hurt.
