I just got a script for Levaquin, I am terrified of it. My LLMD said that people have more problems on Cipro than Levaquin.
I did 2 months of Zith and Mino, that hit Bart pretty good, then 2 months of Rifampin too, then 1 month of Septra with Zith and Mino. I feel like I've got the load way down, but I don't feel like it's gone because I still have some tingling and sole pain.
Where are you in your Bart treatment?

Factive is the strongest. Then Avelox and Levaquin. Then Cipro.
This is in order of strength and general effectiveness.
I've taken them all. Factive was my favorite, most effective, most helpful, also most expensive!!!
Avelox was my least favorite. Avelox caused GERD, nausea and stomach pain after about a month. I could not stay on it long enough to compare the effectiveness against Factive.
Levaquin has been my go to med, extremely helpful for bartonella symptoms effecting the GI tract. More affordable because it is generic.
Cipro was mild, no side effects. Also generic.
Your doc should have a good suggestion for you. They usually know what will work based on past experiences with other patients.

Even though you've had a rough experience with Levaquin, I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of trying Factive. It may be different enough to help you more.

Ya, I'm going to ask my Doc. I'm on Bactrim now and it's working on Bart - but I know eventually I'll need to hit it from a different angle.

I took levequin for months with no issues at all. I loved the improvement I got.

Magnesium and Vitamin C prevents the tendon problems with the fluroquinolones.
