My 35 year old son was recently diagnosed with Lyme Disease. But it seems like everything is going haywire.
He has the typical Lyme Arthritis, extremely low immune levels, high inflammation levels, but he's been having other problems that aren't so checklist for Lyme.
His blood pressure has been rising despite medicine, heart rate crazy (168), but I think for now we have that under control.
He has high cholesterol a month ago (305), and he had very high triglycerides (778). Last year he was in ICU for pancreatitis for a week. He had another acute episode of pancreatitis last week. He has been in been in the hospital a week and counting. They are now saying it is the triglycerides that are causing the pancreatitis (I have high triglycerides AND Lyme Disease.)
There is also an auto immune pancreatitis. Could Lyme cause that? Can Lyme cause any of this?
He is really way too young to have any of these problems. And they just keep coming!

The only symptoms I do know that lyme causes due to my own experience are high blood pressure and high heart rate. This was a huge deal for me. Doxy helped initially and now I believe that Babesia is a major cause of this. I also had POTS when standing that caused both of those to rise also.
I wish I knew more information for you. Im pretty sure others have issues with high cholesterol. Best of luck to him.

BABESIA is where I would look also. It really does a number on the heart.
Lyme can cause just about anything if you ask me.
I wish you could find a Dr willing to do a trial run of babesia meds for him. It is very dangerous, esp when combined with Lyme disease.
I am so sorry you guys are in the position you are in.

Can you get him some magnesium to try to bring his heart rate down?? (Or suggest it to his docs?) Worked for me.

My son was tested for Babesia (LabCorp) and it was negative. Same for myself. Without money, we really can't do much more testing that the insurance doesn't cover.
He's off in another city in the hospital. My doctor (who is now his doctor), at least believes in Lyme Disease and it giving him antibiotics. But with him out of the city, he's in a hospital with doctors that don't believe in Chronic Lyme, so you can imagine, they are not considering Lyme at all.
I'm confused about the autoimmune. Does Lyme trigger autoimmune problems? I know your immune system is affected, but not sure about anything else.
I have POTS as well, but don't think my son has it at this point.
I guess the whole scary thing, is that there is such a variety of problems and they just seem to keep coming and piling up.

Gosh, I'm still learning about Lyme, so can't advise there.
I had high triglycerides once. It had to do with diet and hormones. Once I stopped drinking fruit juice and avoided sweets, it went down. The doc said my body was converting sugars (any kind of fruit or cane) into triglycerides.
When my hormones and diet were straightened out, my triglycerides went back to normal and I can eat fruit again, but I avoid fruit juice.
