Hi,

I started taking Biaxin and Plaquenil together last Friday. On Sunday afternoon I started breaking out in a slightly itchy rash on my face, back, neck and torso. I have taken this combo before with no problems. The doc wants me to back off the plaquenil to see if that is what is causing the reaction.

I asked her if she thought it was a herx and she said not likely. What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

I would think it could be a herx, although I haven't had that reaction with those two meds.

But, I would follow your doctor's advice.

The weird part is I have taken this combo before. She wants me to stop taking this combo and take a medrol pack for a few days. I am a little nervous about this. If I do have MS and not Lyme, maybe this might help some of my symptoms. What does everybody think?

Are you taking good liver support?

You can become allergic to drugs at any point in time... so be careful.

If it were ME, I would not take the Medrol unless I was having trouble breathing.

Honestly, the rash is not bad, just never had one before. I called my doc expecting her to say it was a herx. She said she didn't like that I had a rash and that it could be the Plaquenil. I am having allot of cranial nerve inflammation and maybe the steroids might help that for a few days. As far as liver support I take Milk Thistle.
