Brand name is Factive here. Some LLMDs pulse it one week per month. Some prescribe it daily. I felt better taking it daily.

This antibiotic is similar to levaquin so you can combine it with many other medicines. For example, you could take factive with doxy and malarone. Or switch out doxy with a cephalosporin like omnicef. You could also add bactrim ds and GSE. Many options!

thankx sammy. have u ever had any negative effects on factive? am a bit scared of it. its not registred meds in europe so there is not much experience i can learn from.and obviously docs put hands off. i am not worried about tendonitis as i can keeep an eye on this but what about effect on psychic condition? i am BLO positive (beside lyme, ehrlichia and cpn) so wanna give it try but am scared i can get sort of crazy... if taken with doxy, should i lower its typical dosage or may i stick with it? cheers

I'm positive for Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, CPN, and Mycoplasma too. Factive made me feel better. It greatly reduced my symptoms. It did not cause a flare or make me feel "crazy" (thankfully!).

My doctor prescribed it with the other antibiotics at full doses. So if you want to take it with doxy, take the full dose at 150-200mg twice daily. Factive only comes in one dose, 320mg tablets to be taken once daily. Full dose is the best way to actually beat these infections.

I didn't mention it above, Factive has been one of my favorite antibiotics so far. Very helpful med.

Here's some info on Factive for your doctor: http://www.rxlist.com/factive-drug.htm

Hope you feel better with it. Good luck!

thanks a lot sammy,u really helped me.
just my last question, how long did u stay on factive?

I see u have also very "nice" collection of "friends" of ours living in you:( hope u can manage them somehow. about Babesia - thats the question with me. this infection is very hard to be tested over here.not many labs in europe do it and those who do its hard to say if u can rely on the results.unfortunately in my country it still does remain practically unknown or totally overlooked:( i have not been tested for it so far but i do keep it in mind - if nothing helps me i will try trial abx and afterwards will try to get proper answer to this question.

once more,thank you!

Glad to help sju [Smile]

I wish I could have stayed on Factive longer. I was only on it for about 3-4months. It is very expensive here and I could not afford to continue pay out of pocket for it. I had to switch to a cheaper medicine in the same family, Levaquin.

The Levaquin has been helpful but it is not as good as the Factive was. I'm still grateful for it though.

Take care friend!

I have factive for no more than 14 weeks of treatment on it.so propably the same time as you sammy.and am very sceptic i will be able to get more but its better than nothing. i am on CAP for just a bit over 6 weeks,so am really new in this world but already feel a bit better. i plan to clean up my body by taking doxy, mino, azi etc at first(just not so powerful abx as factive is to avoid too strong toxic reaction caused by dying bacterias) Once this is done i will go for factive to finish it off.hopefully:)

take care sammy.

Lala, i have been given this meds by someone who did not need it any more at the time so was willing to pass his unused meds on me. sorry for not being much helpful for you,i was just lucky at this point.
