I'm on my 6th day of Bactrim. Already anxious and depressed before I started, I'm a basket case at the moment. Constant panic, insomnia and depression.
My LLMD says it's a Herx, but looking at 'askapatient' reviews, these seem like very common side-effects associated with the drug itself.
Anyone had a similar reaction and hung in there? If so, do these awful feelings go away?

Interesting. I tolerated Bactrim quite well. I had a lot of progress using it.
I have an identical situation as yours, but for me it was Cipro. When I started Cipro, I went completely haywire, for about 6-7 weeks. I have been doing well though, for the past few weeks. Things seem to be stabilizing.

It made me depressed too. The herxing and insomnia were the worst for me. I herxed hard for two months straight. I also had the worst insomnia I've ever had (had to go off of it).

I also tolerated Bactrim well. It did cause insomnia and a bit of nausea in the beginning. It has been the best antibiotic for me for as far as making alot of progress.
