I struggle with this same think...not much touches the encephalitis for me. Treatment is supposed to work, but has only lessoned it slightly.
I am starting Mepron soon and hopefully it helps.
I go through a lot of ice packs and massages.

My neurologist told me the only thing that touches it is IV Rocephin as orals don't cross the blood brain barrier....I had this and no orals helped me...just the Iv rocephin...even after treatment it can take months to years for a lot of the symptoms to resolve...but you will get better, much, much better!!
So sorry you're suffering with this

My symptoms were extreme cognitive dysfunction...couldn't remember how to write a check..couldn't read a paragraph and comprehend it...couldn't remember friends names when they were standing in front of me...would start crying in front of people when I'm not a cryer...

IV Rocephin by week 3 (90-95%) & then backslide after that, but not as severe with head and neck pressures. By severe I mean, so painful that I could not stand up for much or walk very far.
Doxy & Biaxin (99%) & backslid after that as well.
If I had to do it again I would do all 3x & add in Flagyl by week 3-4. Flagyl should bust the cysts formed from Doxy & Rocephin.
