Wondering if anyone could help with this, I went to the ER with an insane headache. I was on steroids, methotrexate, and plaquenil.(told I had UCTD) I also had a bad cough and my PCP put me on Doxy. Well I threw up felt horrible and ended up in the ER. Never been tested for Lyme but after reading all these posts I am wondering if I had a reaction between meds or was I herxing? Confused.

If you have any suspicion that you have Lyme, please avoid steroids, they are extremely detrimental to people with Lyme infections.

If you have symptoms or suspicion of a Lyme infection, I would quickly find a LLMD and get testing (preferably through Igenex).

I react VERY strongly to Plaquenil and I have no health problems other than Lyme and co-infections. My reaction is not typical of Plaquenil side effects, so I would say that a herx is a very strong possibility.

Doxy does cause nausea in a lot of people (even those without Lyme). Did you take it with food?
