I just started taking Beyond Balance herbal tinctures and there are no instructions on the bottles, nor did my doctore instruct me on exactly how Im suppose to take the drops.
I have noticed that they are in 80% glycerin, no alcohol?
Do i drop on tongue? (do you stand in front of a mirror to count drops?)
or do you drop in water, mix then drink?
Do I need to hold in my mouth for a mintute like homeopathy?
Thanks for any and all help guys!

- Herbal tinctures:
Glycerin has some clear advantages over alcohol regarding kindness to the liver and less of a "hit" or shock to the body, so I much prefer glycerin tinctures when available.
Just be sure the source of the glycerin is "clean" and consistent.
If from corn, ask where they get the corn and its history. I need to avoid corn as it clogs my ears, however, I do just fine with glycerin tinctures.
But they will not last as long so check the expiration date. Keep from excessive heat and light.
Although the usual dose for tinctures (whether alcohol or glycerine base) is 20 - 30 drops in 1/2 to 1 cup of water . . .
with some that can prompt a herx:
start with just ONE drop in about 1/2 cup of water. Drink. Then hold the last bit in your mouth for a bit. I think this helps it absorb a bit better.
After a minute or so, though, you should rinse your mouth and swish with clear water so as to protect your teeth.
See how you do with just one drop and them move up from there but, really, it's best to contact your doctor's office manager so you can get an instruction sheet for what the optimum dose should be in your case, for each item.
You can also call the company for detail.
For those that have antimicrobial action, starting with just ONE drop can help prevent a herx until you know how it affects you, build up slowly.
For those with antimicrobial action, it's also best to start just ONE tincture at a time and see how that goes for a few days before adding one more, at a different time.
Later, they may be combined (just check first which "plays well with others") but when you are first testing your response just keep things separated.
For SUPPORT tinctures, though, the typical dose may be fine from the start (still, best to just dip your toe in the water first, so to speak).

- You can use warm water if you like and I think that helps with absorption.
If the tincture is solely from ROOT, you can use hot water. If alcohol tincture, swirling it in a deep mug with hot water can help the alcohol dissipate a bit.
If from aerial parts (leaves, buds, parts above ground), do NOT use hot water, just warm. Too much heat can negate the tincture's effects.
However, whole mint leaves are often just doused in boiling water and the tea is still very good but mint has very strong oils.
Not all plants' aerial parts that produce tinctures are strong enough to hold up to hot water. -
