Hi,
I havn't posted here in a while. I have lyme induced RA. I am considering doing the IV abx route for RA and am wondering if anyone else has tried this and what kind of results did you get? I guess it is 5 days of IV Clindy and then minocillen 3 days a week and one day a month IV Clindy.

Thanks
lr26

I've done this. You probably know that there is a lot of information on the www.roadback.org website.

IV Clindamycin, for those of us with rheumatic conditions, is fantastic!!! I also have lyme and babesia, so it shouldn't be your only antibiotic protocol. Minocycline and IV Clindamycin are great drugs and hit lyme and babesia both.

I was on IV Clindamycin for two years; seven days on and three weeks off. Then I asked my AP Rheumatologist to increase it to every three weeks because it was so effective (one week on, two weeks off).

I have taken 100 mg. minocycline throughout my entire three year treatment, and may always take it, as it is good protection against any invading organisms.

Along with this, I have been on abx for babesia like Mepron/Zith/Tindamax and Ceftin for lyme.

Hi Bailypup,

Thanks for the encouragment. I have been battling Lyme, Babs & currently Bart, for 7 years. Have taken almost every oral ABX. Never had any IV abx. I was courous about the sucsess of IV treatment, cause it has always scared me. But I am tired of being sick and have to try something different.

Ir26, have you tried oral clindamycin? I was not able to tolerate it (gut issues), but it might be a way for you to try it out before committing to IV Clindy.

Does IV Clindamycin cause C Diff like oral Clindamycin does? I just did 1 week of oral Clindamycin for a dental infection and ended up with C Diff.
