Hello Dear Members,I just had an MRI done on my Cervical Spine as I have had neck and shoulder pain for the last year and it continues to get worse as time goes on.

My question: Can Borrelia and it`s associated co-infections do damage to the Cervical Spine area?Any information or links will be greatly appreciated, thanking you in advance for your help.

God Bless the Lyme Community. POP

It affects the ligaments and soft tissue, so yes. A lot of spinal pain can come from babesia too.

What kind of damage do you have?

The bacteria also go after areas in the body that don't have good oxygen flow. So I've been wondering, re those who have neck pain, if we have any predisposing neck conditions,

like overly tight neck muscles, like loss of neck curve such that the muscles have to tighten up more to support the neck, all of which would diminish blood flow and make the ketes happy...

I guess the converse question here would be if there are folks with bad Lymed necks who didn't have any abnormal neck problems prior to Lyme neck symptoms.

Then that would point more towards a generic bacterial attack on cranial nerves and any tissues.

I was infected in 1992 but had no idea what LD was, this delayed getting treatment for a long time. I always had neck stiffness since I was infected, but nothing severe during that time.

It was in 2007 when I started to have severe neck spasms and twitching, it went on all year 24/7. When this was happening red rashes formed on both sides of my neck and then I developed a swollen painful Lymph node on the right side of my neck. The rashes are still there.

An MRI showed lesions surrounding the infected Lymph node, my LLMD ordered an asperation of the Lymph node. It was done by MDL labs in NJ by PCR/DNA, it was positive for Mycoplasma Fermentans.

I went to about 10 ENT ducks but no one would touch it, they were all confused as I was. Shortly after, I went out on disability and moved to NC, I went to an ENT there and begged him to remove the Lymph node in which he did.

I still get spasms and twitching on that side of my neck but it feels 75% better then it was. After the surgery my Wife had told me my head was leaning to my right, still till today I have that problem.

All in a years time I have been diagnosed with high Colesterol levals, pre diabeties, pseudo gout in both my knees and now this. I had surgery last year on my right knee to flush out most of the gout but I`m still having problems with pain. The left knee is next.

It was right after this surgery that my neck/shoulder started to bother me. It has progressed to a burning/stabbing feeling that comes from the back of my neck into my right shoulder. I now have a snap, crackle, pop in both my neck and shoulder. I am right handed and cannot do anything repetitivly with my arm/shoulder or I pay a big price. Can`t even swing a paint brush.

The MRI report states that my spine is loaded with osteoarthritis and the ortho doc told me there was nothing he could do. I did not get into my 20 year history of tick borne illness with him, I`ll only do that with docs that understand. He prescibed some kind of rubbing cream which does not help at all.

Lymetoo, I tested positive for Babesiosis back in 1999. Thank God for a NJ LLMD who picked up on it right away cause I was knocking on Heavens door at the time.

I`m at a loss, I have been on an ABX maintenance program for a long time now but as time goes on more ailments keep on cropping up. I was infected when I was 36, I am now 56 but I feel like I`m 96.

I see my LLMD on 9/12, I`ll wait and see what he has to say. To all that replied, I thank you for your responses, maybe it`s time to get retested but for what? Lyme again? Babesiosis again? Ehrlichiosis again, Bartonella again? Or US Army made Mycoplasma Fermentans again?

To all of the Lyme community, are in my prayers, be well everyone. I`ll chime in again if I can find the culprit(s). God Bless. POP

So sorry to hear all that, POP. Do you think you could have been re-infected???

It is nearly impossible to tell if you have Lyme since the testing will always show bands once you've had it.

Might be good to get one if you can afford it and compare with your test from many years ago. Use the same lab.

It could be that the osteo has just taken over. I'm older than you, so I hear ya.

Keep us posted!
