I was wondering which would be better and less strain on the liver for yeast contol, nystatin or fluconazole. After watching a webinar last night it seems like some LLMD's prescribe yeast preventative meds along with the abx.

I think I have heard Nystatin is the least of the two evils. I have taken both and have not affected me adversely.

Nystatin mostly stays in the gut/intestines and is easier of liver (according to my LLMD)because of that reason.

My doctor keeps his lyme patients on one of these all through treatment. I started with nystatin, but it upset my stomach so I switched to fluconazole. With liver support and testing at intervals, this should be okay. I think fluconazole may have some other benefits as well, vs borrelia, but I'm not sure about that.

I also take nystatin every morning and evening all through treatment so far.

I took Fluconazole, though only for 2 months, and had no issues.
I also take Kolorex (supplement) to help keep yeast at bay.

Along with anti fungal you must go on no sugar, yeast and wheat diet. Anything that ferments to yeast ,will keep the yeast growing, even with the anti fungals Docdave

You might want to look up the Candida Diet. I've been on it for months, and it has helped a lot.
While it can be really tough to stick to this type of diet, try to hang in there. It eventually gets easier!
