Has anyone ever just felt really out of it and spaced and brain fogged from babs, it is just that detached totally fogged out feeling is this from babs or what causes it? I guess it is like the derealization thing

This would be either before or during treatment

I liken it to being so fogged out that nothing looks or feels right.

As if you are in a dream

It is almost like really bad brain fog but nothing looks right and feels dream like

Has anyone had this?

By the way the depression and horrible anxiety have calmed a bit so I don't know if that was a really bad herx or what

Do others find brain fog gets way worse with babs die offs

You're not alone. Babs sucks for all of us. It's the worst co infection I have. Have you read up on protomyxzoa yet? The symptoms are similar to babs. Of all the things I've tried for babs, the low fat diet works best.

I basically try to follow the protomyxzoa diet (no arginine--no nuts, eggs, avocados, oils). Babesia like pathogens are sensitive to oils/fats. The goal is to strive to eat 15gm of fat per day (McDougall diet). It's hard to do while still eating meat, so most people go vegan. I eat very little meat, but have eliminated nuts, eggs, avocados and drastically lowered my oils & fats.

I have tried different meds/herbs for babesia, but the one thing that's helped me the most is this low fat diet. My pain is gone. Everyone with babs should try this. You have nothing to lose but pain and all the horrible babs symptoms. Try it.

Maya yes I have had the de-personalization, not really there, out of body feeling on Mepron. I have been on it for months and it has helped with the babs symptoms. I never know from one day to the next what will be happening.

Maya, there is a recent stream from lymenet that might be of interest to you about the spaced out detached feeling being helped by a supplement.

Well I have had my thyroid checked many times and no one seems to think it is a problem, can the infections cause this feeling though?

Maya, I have read about and talked to many who have had this detached feeling. I have been fortunate to not have this, but instead have had many other unpleasant symptoms including having to listen to nonstop noise in my deaf ear. This disease affects everyone so differently.

If you are really scared about this because it is such a change for you, I would let my LLMD know. But if it is something you have had for a while, I would try to accept that it is part of lyme and co. and it will likely get better over time with treatment.

Wish I could help more. Hang in there.

Maya, I know how you feel! While I am not better yet i do think the detached tippy feeling is less and less a problem. I almost quit Mepron too but have been sticking with it. I think my bigger issue is now Lyme or maybe Bart. But I am sticking with babs treatment for at least 6 months and until my FISH smeers are clear. It's so frustrating. i know. My current issue is weird headaches that feel like my brain is swollem or something. kind freaking me out [Frown] but nothing to do.

I'm a little hesitant to chime in because your issues seem a bit more advanced, but I was feeling like crap on my malarone, clindamycin combo. Felt unmotivated, depressed and all, so I stopped. It felt better to take a break then I decided to try some st johns wort. That made a huge difference in my well being as apparently I was serotonin deficient.....now I'm feeling much better but not sure if I should restart antibiotics since its been a whole week off. A part of me just wants to go natural. The other part of me wants to go back on meds since I only treated babs for 2 weeks.

Hey guys thanks for all your help and support , I started back on meds today but so far am okay, I don't feel quite as detached and fogged so I guess it was just a really bad babs herx.

Also my llmd has told me it is okay to take med breaks and will not halt treatment or create resistance.

Thanks for all the support
