I am having a fairly extreme itching and burning in the genital area from Ceftin. I have tried AZO yeast, tons of probiotics, no sugar, OTC products, nystatin, olive leaf extract, coconut oil etc.

I can't take diflucan because I have liver problems. There is no discharge or white patches in the area.

I don't want to go off medications. I am on a VERY low dose of Ceftin and was hoping to INCREASE it. I have tried benadryl and am considering using some hydrocortisone cream.

Is the cream okay to use short term? I was taking cortef for adrenal issues orally. Not sure what the difference in dose is between the cream and pills (5 mg).

Any other suggestions? This is driving me crazy but I need to figure out a way to deal with it so that I can eventually increase the dose.

If it's that bad I'd call The pharmacist and see if it's allergic reaction.

Wow...that's a big problem if you can't take Diflucan. I don't know what to tell you.

I don't think the hydrocortisone cream will have much effect one way or the other. It's like a band-aid.

I'm not too worried about it being an allergic reaction because I can usually feel that in my lungs and I get all over hives especially on my arms and back.

I have been having some chest/lung pressure at night lately though. I did take benadryl tonight to see if it would help.

Try boric acid. Suppositories. You can make them yourself. Google for directions

You can also call your gyn and ask for a prescription for the boric acid capsules to be used vaginally.

A compounding pharmacy will make them.

I tried Monistat. It has not worked. I'll look into Boric acid and see if I can find it.

There are other anti-fungals you can take besides diflucan. There are anti-yeast herbs that can be helpful. I've also taken Nysatin and Ketokonozole for yeast.

Nystatin and the use of Vagisil wash in the shower has made a big difference for me. I also used Monistat for a week. It helped, but didn't cure me. After I started using nystatin and vagisil, within a couple of weeks, I felt much better.

I take nystatin daily. I had been taking 4 pills per day.

I've been trying various herbs. Hopefully something will kick in soon. I tried coconut oil, garlic, olive leaf extract, ACV, oregano oil, etc. I've been having this problem for a few weeks but it got MUCH worse after I indulged in a juice craving the other day. I never drink juice, but at the time I had a VERY strong craving which felt like my blood sugar was too low.

Is this going to be a constant problem with the use of Ceftin? This is the only antibiotic that has caused this problem for me (other than Keflex). On Keflex I had the same problem by the 2nd day. Are people able to take Ceftin without this problem?

Could your LLMD give you an alternative to Ceftin? I have had many problems w/ tolerability for various reasons and my LLMD was always able to adjust the drug or the dose. I believe some of the herbal abx, which are quite strong, do not affect yeast, or not as much as the chemical abx. Good luck!

Health food stores also have vaginal probiotics that you can try.

I got rid of mine too in a few days. I used coconut oil, probiotics, S. Boulardii, Kefir, OLE, Nystatin and AVO yeast.

You can try OTC Lotramin. It says it's for athletes foot, but my daughter's ped has directed us to use it for her yeast infections.

Also, where are you in your cycle? I think yeast is supposed to be worst (due to PH changes or something - not sure) right before your period.

I hardly ever get my period anymore. It's likely due to not being able to eat an adequate amount most of the time along with some significant adrenal dysfunction.
