Or know someone who did???

I just heard on NBC news that some steroid epidurals contained a FUNGUS and that some patients ended up with meningitis from the shots.

Oh that is just great.

Yeah, it's all over the news. Some had the shots as long ago as July, I believe. The med was compounded.

The source of the contaminated meds was a pharmacy called The New England Compounding Center.

Here is an article from the Tennessean newspaper:

They expect it to spread beyong the states that where they discovered it had happened - i called my dr's office this morning bec i had one a couple of months ago and have been feeling weird since but they assured me that the Dr uses "only first rate materials"

Messa... I don't think they use steroids in epidurals for childbirth, but I could be very wrong.

from another board:

The steroid, preservative-free methylprednisolone acetate, was manufactured by the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Mass., and the three lots have now been recalled.

But the CDC and the FDA are now advising doctors "out of an abundance of caution" -- to avoid all products made by the company and to retain and secure them until further notice.

The recalled lots of methylprednisolone acetate are:

Lot #05212012@68, BUD 11/17/2012
Lot #06292012@26, BUD 12/26/2012
Lot #08102012@51, BUD 2/6/2013

DanP...

.Not to worry you, but your Dr saying that they use First Rate Materials means nothing in the bigger scheme of things. It's a B.S. answer.

Tell them you have been feeling weird since you got the shot and you need specific info such as the lab and lot # where they got the meds they injected you with.

If they are still evasive, I would go to the E.R. and explain your situation, and I'll bet they will find out for you. This is your life.

My elderly parents have both been having shots in their spines for months. I'm pretty sure the stuff came from the compounding pharmacy in MA.

I have insisted that they go on Monday and demand to know the lot numbers that have been used on them.

From CDC website: (State facilities known to have been using meds prepared by the "New England" compounding supplier):
