I am 12w1d pregnant with baby number 2. I have BArt Lyme and Myco and am treating with Amox and Zithso as to not transmit to my Baby.

I went to have an Nuchal translucensy yesterday and learned that the BAby has a Cystic Hygroma.

They gave us a pretty grim prognosis. However I am hearing of more success stories than bad outcomes even from my OB.

Reason I post is because Of course the forst question that comes to mind is, "is this from my infections?"

Im not looking for speculation here. I am looking to see if anyone on here has been through this too.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

There was a very comprehensive chapter on lyme disease in a medical textbook dealing with infectious diseases of the fetus and newborne infant. I don't remember if this particular situation was covered, but you might want to find that edition of the textbook. Later editions had dropped this chapter due to influence of the IDSA.

I will see if I can find the details on the right edition. Maybe you could find it in a medical library somewhere, such as at a hospital or university.

And you could ask this question on the lyme and pregnancy forum, if it is still active.

lucky,

I am so sorry to hear this. My heart really goes out to you. This website says it could be caused by maternal infection:

I don't know what else to say but I am so sorry. Sounds like things could turn out ok though. How stressful for you though. Try to stay strong and don't lose hope.

Thank you all so much! Please keep us and our baby in your prayers.

I am hearing better and better outcomes through a support forum. So fingers crossed and God willing...
