Flyer said on empty stomach. mentioned here not on empty so tummy doesn't have problems.
I've been so sick so many days we were only getting a "nourishing drink.aka vitamin.mineral, amino acids, in me 75% of the time.
So I took all ABX and Mepron with drink in me .. Sometimes just a little .others 8-10 oz, So does that mean I just wasted potency of Cipro?
Why do I seem to have such a crazy time getting meds and supps in me?
Tonight I woke up at 10:30, couldn't eat ....husband had me take a few sips and gets meds down..then hour later I took 25 supplements with a few more ounces of that drink, he had it all in a little cup..I asked if they go together?
Most are new to me, he just said so what, you bought them , so take them....
I can't read and figure out this.
It took me 3 weeks just to get an opening in mind etc to do the order....
now I need to be asleep and I'm just laying here not knowing what to take or do..and I don't want to hurt myself with wrong mix.
God where has my brain gone?
Just called pharmacy it's 4 AM .he said take cipro away from minerals ,antiacids or milk. great..
.then he also said go ahead a take 2 different sleep meds now and see if you can still get ,sleep when dark.
Also do these drugs interfer with QT ......

Nonna, I don't think you wasted it. I took it with all my meds after breakfast (dr. never told me to take on an empty stomach)and then again at night. and it I still got me the best months in my treatment.
I am sorry you are feeling so poorly. I hope you hit a good spell soon.

Then with food take your abx 30 min later. If you are taking Mepron make sure to get some fat. My daughter either has a spoon of almond butter or a Lara Bar. Lara Bars have 10 grams of fat in 1 bar.
Then 2 hours after abx take your probiotics and Saccro B.
Then an hour later take tour minerals and binders (chlorella, charcoal, clay etc...)
Set an alarm on your phone to remind you.
We have 2 in our family with Lyme. In the beginning it was so hard to get the right pills at the right time. But then I bought 4/7 day pill organizers for each of them.
I do the meds 2 weeks at a time. Each patient has 4 boxes. 2 for week #1 and 2 for week #2. Each box has 4 slots for each day, and the slots hold about 20 capsules.
One is labeled week 1 AM and the next week 1 PM. Then I have a set of 2 for each of them for week 2.
I sit down and put all of their meds in the boxes for the next 2 weeks. I also keep a tablet handy and write down what needs to be refilled and what supplements I'll need, for the next 2 week cycle. Then I have time to order supps and get RX refills.
My daughter has had horrible GI issues and couldn't tolerate all of the pills. We have 2 miracle drugs that really help her: Zofran and Phenegran. She lost 30 pounds and was so skinny. But now that we have her nausea meds she has gained it back and then some. She can also take pills.
Prior to that she could only eat one or two foods and anything else would make her sick. The foods would change from time to time, but it was always only one or two. Now she can eat full range diet.
Hope some of this helps and that you find some relief soon!

I take cipro with food. I take all my abx together with food to minimize tummy upset and LLMD says it is OKAY.
You are fine. You did not waste your cipro. Take it however you can with or without food. Many abx say to take on an empty stomach, but many can not be tolerated by people that way. LLMD says to take them with food if you need to. I take all mine together twice a day.

"If you are taking antacids containing aluminum hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide (Maalox, Mylanta, Tums, others); didanosine (Videx); calcium, iron, zinc, or vitamin supplements; or sucralfate (Carafate), you will need to allow some time to pass between when you take a dose of any of these medications and when you take a dose of ciprofloxacin. Ask your doctor or pharmacist how many hours before or after you take ciprofloxacin you may take these medications."
My understanding is that if Cipro is taken with only the above (not a full meal), it will bind with the magnesium, calcium, etc... and be flushed from your system.
There is not as much of a problem with this if you take the Cipro extended release.
My personal opinion is that you did not waste three weeks of medication. It is possible that a single dose or two were reduced in effectiveness but I seriously doubt you rendered the entire Rx ineffective.
You were wise to call your pharmacist.
Be well.

I just started cipro about 10 days ago. Mine says with or without food
But is also says not with manesium, anticids, or lots of calcium.
I made the mistake of taking it with alka seltzer gold, not thinking that it was an antacid
I take mine first thing because you have to wait 2 hours to take magnesium/calcium/antacids.
Or it can be taken 6 hours after antacids or supplements.
It's hard to time this all out, I feel its helping though so I am making sure that I do everything to make it work.
With or without food doesn't matter as long as it is not with magnesium, antacids or calcium.
I hope it is working for you!

Maybe you didn't completely waste it, but reduced its strength. I did this when I had a UTI. It just wouldn't go away. Then I figured out that what I ate just before I took the cipro had magnesium, zinc, etc. That's why my UTI kept coming back.
