Always wondered why when I have a cold I have no lyme symptoms?

- The body puts the chronic stuff on the back burner, to simmer, while it attends to the invader that just crashed through the front door. -

- Many with lyme notice that they don't get the number of typical colds as before lyme.
Others still do and even worse.
I went through both phases but I never felt any lyme symptoms leave during an acute cold or flu. I just felt way more awful with newer stuff that usually made breathing and sleeping even harder.
Those new cold symptoms made me focus on those, though.
Either way, with lyme two parts to the immune system sort of get flipped. Nothing works as it did before lyme.
That you can mount a response to a new cold is a good sign, though, as long as you can keep comfortable and it stays in check. -

- Some of the things you do for your cold may ease lyme symptoms. For instance, guaifenesin is often used to stop a cough. That also helps relieve full body pain.
Same with Elderberry extract and Vitamin C, both excellent to relieve cold symptoms (as well as those from lyme). -

I have the same thing. I rarely get sick, but, when I do, lyme symptoms are greatly reduced. So, I actually like getting sick! I don't take any meds or herbs for a cold, so, in my case, that would not explain why I feel better.

I just got my first cold in the three years that I've been stricken with lyme. And...my lyme symptoms are greatly exacerbated! Ugh!
I, too, have heard that that is a "good" sign when you get a cold...that your immune system is starting to kick in...'any thoughts on that one?!?!? Personally, I feel pretty crappy right now, so even the "thought" of something good maybe coming from it makes me smile...

Interesting. I too just developed a cold/flu like symptoms & am still trying to fight it.
I had running nose, sneezing a lot, & soar throat. From my neck down it has been a very mild set of symptoms than usual.
I attributed it to new ABX, but maybe the WBC's are distracted with the new infection? When I also checked my blood smear twice this week, I could barely find any WBC. Maybe most migrated to my head and neck, where they are fighting this cold?

- Another variable:
When we are exposed to a cold, IF we had that same strain before, we will not (normally) then develop THAT specific cold. -

Who knows? It's nice to feel normal sick for awhile. But are colds good or bad?

I'm trying to get over a cold the last 13 days. Haven't had one in two years, and I'm really dragging. It was a moderate cold, and just when I think it's going away, it returns. I feel I slid back on the Lyme scale from maybe 90 to 75-80%.
