Hello. I had a lyme test conducted to test IgG/IgM Antibodies and the result was 1.24 LIV. The Reference interval states that: 1.21 LIV or Greater:... Positive: Probable presence of antibody to Borrelia burgdorferi detected. What does this mean as the Infectious Disease Specialist said I do not have lyme? I have also tested positive for two bands in the past. I have been battling several symptoms since October of 2009. I even had to quit working for one year to try and deal with what I was experiencing. I have never been treated but my symptoms started after I noticed a large bite on my back after visiting in MN and SD. I sure would appreciate any information that you all would have to offer. Also, I had a baby last year and expressed my concerns with my doctors however they assured me that I did not have lyme and that even if I did it could not pass through the placenta. I contacted 2 LLMDs in MN while I was pregnant last year and had no luck with getting an appointment as they both said they had not treated women that may have lyme. Thank you in advance.

well-for sure your docs are wrong
1. they cant tell from a test if you have lyme or not
2. it is clearly proven it does pass thru the placenta if the mom is not on abx
3-if you had a bullseye or other rash from a tick then that is the diagnosis right there-you dont need to know any more-you need to treat
the test you had is not one i am familiar with...but if i am reading it right it was pos and your doc says it wasnt
sometimes when a test (not a lyme one tho) but sugar or thyroid-is very close a doc will say its a false positive
but more times than you think the doc makes a mistake reading it...i didnt realize that until i started getting my records copied a lot...and other doctors pointed it out to me
so-i think you need to look deeper and there is a good chance you have lyme...can you travel...i dont know if there is a good llmd in sd
there are goood docs in MO, IL, and other places
pm me if you want more help

1.24 LIV.....You have lyme disease. Do not let this go any longer. You had a positive ELISA test, those aren't common. You don't need to know anything else. Get into an LLMD. Be grateful that you found the cause as many people on here are still trying to test positive.
Most importantly, no mainstream Dr. will be of any use to you when it comes to this illness. Simply put, they just don't know about it so they assure people that they are fine.

- You say that you "contacted 2 LLMDs in MN while I was pregnant last year and had no luck with getting an appointment as they both said they had not treated women that may have lyme. " (end quote)
LLMD = Lyme Literate MD (usually NOT in with other regular doctors) Link to follow.
I'm not sure they were actually LLMDs at all if they have never treated any women who may have lyme.
Not at all.
Do you mean "Infectious Disease" doctors? Sounds like they both were trying to make it sound like lyme is so very rare, they've not seen it in any woman.
A true LLMD surely will have treated women.
99% of Infectious Disease doctors (ID docs) do not acknowledge or treat lyme. Very rarely will a LLMD be a member of the IDSA (Infectious Disease Society of America).
ID doctors are NOT LLMDs (with the rare exception).
While many LLMDs are members of ILADS (a group of doctors who do acknowledge and treat lyme, chronic lyme and other tick-borne infections), not all LLMDs are exactly members and may have their own approach but they still have much in common.
Details to follow in next links. -

- SOME BASICS ------------------------
First, a positive ELISA, in light of the bite reaction and your symptoms surely point to lyme.
ANY positive bands on a Western Blot are indicative, some more so than others. See explanation here:
See listener/reader comments, too - so you get the whole picture. They interviewed an IDSA ID doctor who is so very, very wrong about all this. Hard to hear, yet important to illustrate the kind of treatment ID doctors just can't provide. -

Thank you all for your responses and helpful information. I am going to try again to get in with an LLMD in Minnesota.
Sorry, in my original post, I meant to state that the two LLMDs said that had not had experience treating pregnant women who may have lyme.
This information and the links are very helpful. I have been doing a lot of research and have not had much luck with my doctors.
I hope that I am able to get an appointment soon as some of symptoms have been worse lately including the rocking/swaying sensation (feels like I am on a boat) and the brain fog/cognitive issues. I am truly grateful for you all responding.

- Rocking/swaying sensation is likely from the inner/middle ear (vestibular) system. It's often affected by lyme due to the toxicity levels.
GINGER CAPSULES, a good magnesium and fish oil can help ear and brain that deal with balance, etc. Liver support is also vital for the ears.
They will also help a bit with brain fog - along with anti-infective treatments.
Hold on. Take care. --------------------------------
