wondering if anyone is mostly done...but doing a low dose a few times a week, more in line with what road back.org suggests for RA?
as you can tell, from my many posts lately, I am looking for ideas to talk with my LLMD about next visit.

After years of being terribly ill, I spent 2 years with Dr. H. in NY getting the massive treatment then 6 years with a GP getting follow up treatment; now I have a new GP and she has suggested I try this approach: 100 mg Doxy a day. I am ready to try it.
I had severe neuro symptoms as well as vertigo & digestive problems; could not drive, read, listen to music or watch TV, walked like a drunk. Now I am swimming again, taking an exercise class at the Y, running errands, reading, etc. but I still have some vertigo & still have aches & fatigue & a limited lifestyle.
The large dose approach definitely made me much better yet after a few months off ABX I start getting symptoms returning.
There is an article at this other site about just keeping the the cause of your symptoms dormant with the low dose even if you are not actually killing them; well, if all these years of ABX have not killed them off completely, then why not try the low dose.
I cannot afford an LLMD & high dose meds, and I am tired of of the high dose approach (& worried about how it possibly affects my body).
My GP considers this safe, for one thing, as do these doctors on these sites, and she believes I will then be comfortable & able to function, while doing myself no harm.
I have only just begun to try this, as of Oct. 1, using Doxy 100 mg once a day, so cannot tell you much about the results yet.
My GP also mentioned, as I brought up my concern regarding the importance of bacteria in our bodies and what all these years of antibiotics has done to me, that Doxy is not as harmful to our good bacteria as are other antibiotics. Interesting. Of course I will still take a good probiotic.
I am 60 years old.

Thanks again ESG for this thoughtful reply. I wish you luck with this protocol. I have always done well on doxy. Curious about the minocycline.

I think that once I get a handle on my symptoms I will do a low dose of 2 abx at a time or strong herbs probably daily forever. I don't ever want to get back to this point or worse than I am now.
For me it will be worth the risk. Plus I get ticks on me all the time. I want to protect myself proactively from another re-infection.

Thanks for that site. It looks like they have some great info. Unfortunately I am having a hard time registering for some reason.
I am also wondering if I would do better with a low dose abx.

I don't want to take abx forever. I don't even want to do it for another two years. I wonder how effective it would be after a while. My goal is to get off the abx. How? no idea.

I have been sick for about 10 years - mostly neuro. and Bab.'s and Q-Fever. HAd complicatons along the way with surgery(s) and steroids.
Seen numerous LLMD's and had all sorts of tx - IV, high dose, low dose, pulsing, herbs etc...
Under the care of my current LLMD for about 10 months now and have treated very aggressive and getting some solid and long standing results.
Still flare slightly with tx. changes and have some remaining neuro symptoms.
I am clost to 80% functioning most days and am able to exercise - even do a couple of races - and work and engage in normal ADL activities.
At this point in my tx we have stopped all but one abx. and on B.W. herbs plus ART Liposome. Once I get to full dose of herbs we will dope the remaining abx. and see what happend on just herbs.
I am hopeful but nervous as everytime in the past that I stop abx. I relapse.
In the past when I had to self treat I would stay on a low dose of Doxy and that made me functionable. Yes, I know the cyst theory but if there was no other option I would opt to force them into cyst.
