Family member just pulled an engorged tick off of his neck. The tick is still alive. What should he do exactly? (i.e. go to hospital, what antibiotic should he make sure to get, dose, length of treatment?)
He is in southeastern PA. Any care outside of the standard antibiotic to compliment the traditional medicine?

A few doctors I know put zithromax topically on the bites but that's for people already on abx for Lyme.
A doctor in my area suggests 6 weeks of doxy/zith/flagyl for a new infection. Your friend is not likely to get that from a hospital or GP. He may need to get some doxy and supplement with herbs (GSE, OLE, Japanese Knotweed, etc.).

A doctor just told me that you can send ticks to Clongen to get them tested and know exactly what you're up against (or not!) He said they have a quick turnaround.
He also said a lot of his patients take Samento in this type of situation.
