Hello all,

One of my main scary symptoms besides my chronic head pressure is heart pain. Sometimes it feels like the muscles around it, maybe my ribs, but it just does not feel right. There is just a very weird pain there, kind of like someone is squeezing it. It comes and goes. Sometimes I go days without feeling it. I have felt it more since starting my antibiotics and Mepron. My question is should I get my heart checked? Has anyone had this and has it gone away with treatment? In my mind I have such a hard time believing there is something wrong with my heart. Before this all started, 7 months ago, I would run 4-10 miles on days that I would run. On others, I would practice hot yoga. Ive been competitively running for the past 7 years. I would think that my heart is very strong, but now when I try to go to yoga, it sometimes hurts and it sometimes doesn't. Sometimes I feel like it is going to beat out of my chest.

Also, do you think LLMD's have connections with other specialists such as cardiologists who understand Lyme but dont treat it?

Hi there. I get this pain sometimes as well. I do think that you should go to a cardiologist and get a basic workup, yes...probably a stress echocardiogram at least. I think with chest pain it is always better to be safe than sorry. Feel better. Jess.

Babesia meds did that to me too. Go ahead and get checked out!

My daughter had the heart pain at the onset of her infection. Unlike most on here she did have abnormal ekgs and had supraventricular ectopic beats. She treated lyme and babesia and the heart pain and abnormal ekgs cleared up. She also used mepron to treat babesia. I would try find a lyme literate cardiologist if you want to do some testing.

I had a lot of chest pain and tightness with Babesia. I saw a cardiologist, had the necessary tests and - fortunately - all came back ok.

Once I starting treating Babesia, the symptoms initially worsened...then gradually lessened in intensity.

By the end of treatment, the symptoms were gone.

I agree with other posters that it's always a good idea to get checked out...just in case.

I had alot of fluttering and palpitations after starting Mepron and Zith. Zith has been found to affect Q-T intervals so my LLMD sent me for a complete cardiology workup....ekg, echo, 24 hr. holter monitor and stress test. All came back fine, but once I stopped Mepron and Zith due to high liver enzymes, the flutters and palpitations subsided.

I had Pericarditis which is inflammation of the sach around the heart.

this comes and goes and is like you described like a squezing

I also have rib cage pain which is more external than the heart pressure type pain.

needless to say I was in the ER several times and only once did they say it was pericarditis all other times they could find nothing.

also cardiologist finds nothing... if it gets severe enough it can be dangerous but I had the pericarditis pains on and off for years it's not really an indication of your heart health as far as valves and circulation goes... but its inflammation from the bacteria and or other infections.

Mine has been really good lately.

I would say go to the cardioloigist just to double check everything but I can almost bet they will find nothing

Paul

I went through all that stuff and was getting dizzy too from my meds and low blood pressure. Then some bradycardia showed up on an ekg.

Long story short, after all the tests were done, my heart is okay. Lyme and coinfections may make it flutter or do strange things but essentially it is working okay. It is peace of mind to do the tests.

My LLMD said it was all Lyme related, but I think I just had to know that nothing else could have been causing the issues. Never hurts to get things checked out.

How is pericarditis diagnosed? Chest x-ray? MRI? Is this seen on any tests?

Thanks, Paul Mall.

I agree with other posters that it is definitely worth the testing for peace of mind.
