I have my labs drawn every four weeks. My white blood cell count was 37 last month which is low and last week it was down to 31. Docs just want to watch and retest next month.

I had some other blood work (sorry can't remember the exact test) which came back showing that I am not absorbing protein. This is odd because I mainly eat protein. Added enzymes to help with this.

My fatigue has been up and I have been feeling horrible the last couple of months. I have been losing my hair as well. Thyroid tests were normal.

I currently take Mino/Rifampin/Azith plus vitamins and probiotics.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

My white count went low during treatment. My lyme doctor said that the body senses the antibiotics and decides it doesn't have to produce so many white blood cells (which kill infection) since the antibiotics are there.

What he had me do when this happened was take Transfer Factor. We retested in 2 weeks and the count was back up to normal.

When it happened a few more times, he just told me to stay on the Transfer Factor until I completed my treatment--a few months.

That worked for me. It was over 7 1/2 years ago when I completed my treatment and I am still symptom free, enjoying my life.

Regarding hair loss, this happened to me when my estrogen was low. May want to have it checked. Hair grew back when I got my estrogen regulated.

In terms of hair loss and thyroid, your TSH may be fine by ordinary dr's standards, but your other #s and your basal temperature and symptoms may not be fine at all. The doc should treat the patient, not the test #s!! You should be evaluated by a more progressive dr for thyroid.

High dose niacin (flush kind) can also bring WBC's up---@ 2 grams per day, spread out over the day. I do both.

My vitamin D is actually in the normal range for the first time in about year.

I had a hormone driven breast cancer last year so I cannot take any estrogen or hormones. [Frown]

Does Transfer Factor come from Cow's colostrum? Is it okay to take this if dairy causes symptoms? I'm not full blown allergic to dairy but it definitely makes me sicker.

I have spoken with four different Dr's about the thyroid results and been tested twice in the last six months. No one is concerned that it may be the thyroid causing the sx. Does an Endocronologist specialize in this?

Yes, an endo specializes in the thyroid.

Also, you can still have your estrogen checked, just to find out if it is low. Then at least you might know what is causing the hair loss.

The Transfer Factor I took was made from cow's colostrum. They may not all be made from that. I don't know if your problem with dairy would extend to the TF or not.

Look into AHCC, which is a mushroom extract supplement that is cultured with enzymes, concentrated and freeze dried.

It is an immuno-modulator and is used to increase the number of white cells.

How AHCC works

Research Overview

I first heard about it when others here said that their LLMD's advised it.
If you decide to buy it, I don't think the brand matters, as it is all made by the same company in Japan.

Some labs report the WBC's that way, moving the decimal point.

This sounds like what happened to us when we were living in mold. Mold can be hidden behind walls and does not necessarily smell. Having mold in your home does not mean you don't clean well or you have a dirty home.

When we were living in mold, my son's WBC went down to a 0.8 for 3 months in a row.

My hair was falling out by the handfuls and my son and I were both very sick.

My hormones were tested and came back normal.

We were not absorbing many nutrients and tried supplementing with Betaine HCL and digestive enzymes.

Do an ERMI test from EMSL

May health be with you!

Toxic mold was suppressing our immune systems, causing extreme pain, brain fog and magnifying symptoms. Four days after moving out, the healing began.
